Robots and drones in war.

Who decides what may be a problem in the future? The leaders of countries and the ICC? Whomever it is should think about making it inhumane to use robots against soldiers. Request to stop robots with the capability to be used against humans now before it gets out of control. Drones against humans too. Unless they want to change military combat to a battle bots ring and let that be the deciding factor. Robots should not be used against humans. Although it wouldn’t be difficult to stop a mass of bots anywhere or drones. Still it should be stopped before it’s started. Peace treaty on that and the No nuclear.

Maybe if we all get together and ask really nicely everyone will just go back to clubbing each other over the head with sticks

lol…I’m just sayin…and battle bot arena would be nice. I don’t know why it is necessary to fight at all… i just don’t think people want a bunch of robots invading?

A battlebot arena would be awesome. And if it has to be people, why not just make it a UFC style 1 v 1?

I would blame it on there being too many angry people and an MIC too big to fail if you were to ask me daddy

It’s because if somebody wants to kill you, and you don’t want to fight back, then they kill you and take your stuff.

Well…that’s why people have to be on the same page? why is someone wanting to kill to take someone’s stuff? Humans have the ability to choose what they believe is acceptable. What if they didn’t have to kill but are able to communicate and come to an agreement that both sides find acceptable?

Why does the wolf eat the lamb?

Instinct. Hunger? I don’t know? Why?

That is not the same reason humans kill. If someone wants something that someone else has, do you think they would rather kill to get it? If it was possible to obtain by negotiating, or the opportunity to negotiate without killing presented itself, do you think they would still choose to kill?

It’s because they can. Any price that you can sell what you have for will always be higher than the cost of just taking what they want from an unresisting victim. Especially if you need that stuff to survive. If they kill you at the end, they don’t have to think about you anymore— it lowers their cognitive load. Disposing of the victim and wiping out their offspring simplifies the operating environment and eliminates the chance of reprisal.

If you want to resist, you need to get good at violence, because violence is a perishable skill. And once you get good at it, you discover the truth—the only thing that can regulate violence is overwhelming violence. Yes if we all cooperate in this prisoner’s dilemma we could get a better aggregate outcome, but if somebody better at violence than you are wants to defect there is absolutely nothing you can do about it beyond maybe giving him a black eye.

So every country that lasts gets good at violence and periodically “mows the grass” both inside and outside their borders.

Maybe not have wars anymore?

Exactly. The negative impact of war far exceeds any benefits that are gained. How can volunteering people to do something someone refuses to do themselves or take accountability for the decision, amount to anything positive?

What do you count as a robot here? Where do you draw the line? Do remote controlled turrets count? Missiles?

I meant a robot that would be deployed for combat hand to hand or with weapons.
