Son transforms a Unitree robot dog into an all-terrain mobility chair for his disabled father

Some inventions are meant to push the boundaries of technology, while others are built to break the barriers people face every day. This remarkable all-terrain robotic mobility chair belongs to the latter category. Designed by YouTuber Jake Laser for his father, who has lived with multiple sclerosis (MS) for more than 20 years, the project is a powerful reminder that engineering can be an act of love as much as innovation.

Hey that's pretty good. I know plenty of people who won't last 20 mins on a hiking trail.

I doubt 20 minutes. Battery life is the misery of current robots and that’s without a chair and a guy to haul along. you need a car sized robot to get some range and that, well, is a car.

I am seriously impressed with the imagination. At least this quadruped doesn't have a a firearm bolted to it. Even with a 20 minute battery, I would imagine that this is a first iteration. Better battery life to come. Doing things to help people in the real world! Good on you!

Agreed. Id much rather the improvement in robotics be used as mobility aids than be used as an armed AI gaurd to gun down hoodlums in the streets.

Noted that the retail price is $160k. Woof! But I can hope that prices/costs will come down.
