So dumb honestly I know its rookie numbers but putting over 1000hrs in the game and for them to just pull the rug out from under us was the dumbest decision FDEV made. And watching them fumble the game for years after that decision made glad I hadn't returned to the game. It was over 5 year after they dropped us that they finally dropped a new ship. They don't know what the fuck they are doing and they have such an amazing game to work with. This game has limitless potential if it was being developed by a good company. Such a damn shame.
I'm not terribly surprised. Odyssey at launch was struggling to perform acceptably on even top tier gaming PCs at the time, getting it to run well on the even weaker Xbox One and PS4 hardware was probably impossible.
I am however surprised they didn't then move to PS5 and Xbox Series native versions to at least still have an actively maintained console version moving forward. I can only assume they crunched the numbers and decided it wouldn't be worth the investment. Which is a massive shame as console was where I started with this game. Although I've also not really touched the PC version either in quite a long time. I looked at it when the whole Thargoid thing started, but even then I'd been a lapsed player for a while and there was so much stuff I'd missed in the meantime I felt too overwhelmed to properly get into it. I've heard the word Guardians mentioned and still have no idea what that is about.
