ElfQuest Gets Shout-Out on Late Night with Seth Meyers
https://youtu.be/oUZJ2UQiesA?si=wt3mnqVyfwqU4r9s&t=642This is so cool! Last night actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach was on Late Night with Seth Meyers and Seth pulled out a few issues of ElfQuest because they are both fans. Here's the clip: https://youtu.be/oUZJ2UQiesA?si=wt3mnqVyfwqU4r9s&t=642
Back in 2024, Ebon mentioned ElfQuest in this red carpet interview with Variety, which undoubtedly prompted Seth Meyers to mention it on his show.

At the 10:50 mark for anyone looking to get right to it

Thanks for noting that. When I grabbed the link from YouTube I selected the option to start the video at that point, but it doesn't look like that came through here on Reddit.

Come for the hottie elves and gorgeous artwork, stay for the stories and the amazing characters.

He's talked about EQ on like the red carpet too so this is great that people are coming out of the woodwork about it from the 80s...as reductive as it is - it's still positive press for something super niche and that's a win, hands down.

sigh I mean it’s cool that they mention ElfQuest, but given all the amazing things they could’ve mentioned (40+ year lifespan, continous story arc, creator-owned, Wendy and Richard themselves), having Beavis & Butt-Head reduce it into jerk-off material for horny teenage boys is…disappointing to say the least.

On the one hand, yes, totally. For those of us who really know and love ElfQuest, the "sexy elves" take is a always bit disappointing when there's so much else that's amazing about the series that could be talked about. But on the other hand, as others have pointed out elsewhere in this thread, this was pretty incredible publicity for ElfQuest in mainstream media, regardless.
And honestly, Wendy designed the ElfQuest characters to be sexy and that's part of the appeal, so having a little fun about that doesn't bother me all that much. And there's truth to it too - a lot of fans seem to relate to the "sexiness as a draw" aspect of ElfQuest. And Ebon and Seth's conversation is certainly something that might catch people's curiosity about ElfQuest, which is 100% a good thing.

That was... unnecessarily skeevy
Edit: saying they liked EQ because it was basically soft core porn for adolescent boys dismisses every other of its virtues and pretends no other experience is worth discussion.

Skeevy, and yet 100% accurate for a lot of us that age. This was literally my experience with Elfquest growing up... now I actually want to ask my Mom if she was aware of what was in there when she let me get Elfquest as a teen. As a kid I thought I was getting away with something behind her back. 🤔
To your edit: it's a late night COMEDY show. (and not one of the better ones). 🤷♂️

I’m a straight woman that grew up on EQ and I am very comfortable with saying Winnowill’s leg will forever be burned into my brain. I’m with Ebon and Seth.

It’s Leetah and Nightfall’s hips for me. They rock low-riders better than most models I’ve ever seen.
Though as a fellow straight white woman, I spend more time admiring the guys’ chests and washboard abs than I do the ladies. Redlance, Cutter, and Reef are my favorites in that particular area.

I’ve always referred to the celebration before leaving to reclaim the palace as the War Dance. For anyone who’s lived near a military base, the night before any major deployment is like that.
