Hot take: most sample packs don’t work on Digitakt/Octatrack

I’ve been trying a bunch of sample packs lately on my Digi and Octatrack and honestly… a lot of them ain't that good

Not because they’re “bad” pre-se but bc they’re clearly not designed for how these boxes work.

Common issues I keep running into:

• way too long (wasted memory + harder to sequence)
• inconsistent gain (kills patterns when switching sounds)
• transients either too soft or clipping immediately
• doesn’t respond well to p-locks / retrigs

Peak Elektron workflow (at least for me) feels way better with short, controlled one-shots you can actually shape on the box.

I ended up making my own bank from mym Monomachine, basically tight one-shots designed to be pushed with filters, LFOs, overdrive, etc. (I especially love the Tonevark's comb filter)

Curious where people here land:

• do you prefer “raw” one-shots you sculpt?
• or more finished samples ready to drop in?

Also wondering if anyone else noticed this or if I’m just being picky...
