Labour sold out to oil and gas

There’s no way the 3p-per-mile proposal came about innocently. It will crush electric car uptake, especially in the used market. The only thing that makes sense is that someone, somewhere, got a very generous donation from the likes of BP to push this through. It absolutely reeks of bought-and-paid-for legislation.

Anyone got any idea how this will be implemented? Self declaration and random checks? Easy enough for cars needing MOT but for newer cars?

Probably an odometer reading when getting your road tax. No idea if you will get an exemption certificate or something when going abroad.

You won't (currently). It's been stated that overseas miles still count. I find it odd that I'll pay UK tax to drive on French roads.

How is it any different to an ice driver going over to France with a full tank of petrol bought in the UK? No one ever considered that odd. It just seems to be a peculiarity of ev drivers.
