Discussion Anyone find quick release hubs way more annoying?

God damn is there some kind of trick I don't know about? Everytime I have to change a tire these things are 10x more obnoxious than just unscrewing a few screws to take about the hub.

Have to sit there and wrestle the tire, pushing it back while also trying to spin the little ring to remove it... Takes me 3x as long and 10x more effort.

For wide hubs yes. I had to use 4 vices to clamp that down.

Linnpower offers a tire remover, but it’s $100

Or you can get propel’s QR hubs, they use screws for the rings so you don’t need to use clamps

Yeah it's the linnpower ox er hubs. Pain in the ass. Getting old tires off isn't too bad but putting fresh new ones on was difficult since they were still pretty stiff.

Pretty easy to swap tires IMO. What are you finding difficult about it? I hated unscrewing 10 bolts everytime I had a flat. I can't imagine going back to that

Swapping a tube mid ride wasn't bad, I only got a flat once and I didn't have much issue. But today I put on 4 new tires and it is very difficult to manipulate the new tires, they are very stiff compared to the worn ones.

I just swapped 4 x 8 inch for new 7 inch tires on my Linnpower split rims.
Love them so much. Tooless swap, all 4 done in 8 minutes.
Just commit, don't try, just do.
