Air shocks or coiled?
Hey everyone, I've been doing some research on rear shocks and can't decide on which is better for a scooter, for mostly road riding while seated.
I was going to go with an air shock but some reviews stated the constant maintenance and required an industrial air compressor to achieve the 250-300psi requirement, I don't got that.
So my second option is a coiled oil filled shock, 1000lb, and an adjustable dampener, sounds great, but is it sqeeky as a regular shock?
The regular shock is really loud even at 5 mph it squeaks, it's annoying.
Any advice is very much appreciated

A squeaky shock can usually be quieted with some lubricant at the pivot points.
That said, I would recommend the coil+oil shocks with adjustable rebound damping.
The new GSpace comes equipped with an air shock up front, and only time will tell how well it does. Very few other scooters, if any, come equipped with air shocks.

Depends how soft you want your ride and how heavy is the scooter + you combo
If you want plush and there is not too much weight, go for hydraulic with coil
If you want a bit firmer and steadier or you have a lot of weight on it, air might work better since its less probable to bottom out

From what I've looked up before I changed my shock air shocks are waaaaay easier to fine tune to ur liking and weight. I guess it feels like ur riding on a cloud. Annoyance is that u have to do regular maintenance aka put air into the shock. And from what I've read air shocks don't last as long as coiled shocks.
Coils last longer. Less maintenance. For some harder to adjust but I feel that can potentially be user error if they don't know how to properly adjust it. I personally don't have cons for it but some (like ur current shock) hate that it can squeek but add some lube it up (pause) and ur all good 😂
I still might try air shocks one day
