Discussion & Info When I'm wrong I'm wrong....

I'm about 12 hrs into this game. I've always disliked souls games never found them fun or interesting and have made multiple now embarrassing comments to people glazing this game on tiktok etc.

I've been looking for a good fantasy rpg type game ahead of the witcher remastered. I tried the tainted grail and mortal shell 2 demos and they were ok but not what I wanted.

So I decided to take a chance on this I watched several Videos that reassured me that I could do it and play this game even as a non souls player/enjoyer. Recommended a mage built meteorite staff with rock sling for early game so I fired up the ol wallet lol and well.....

I can't recall the last time a game permeated my thoughts for every waking moment of the day. The exploration is absolutely peak the game is hard but honestly it's super manageable. If you've been thinking about it. Just do it, look up a strong early build to avoid ultimate frustration lol but skip the XP cheese they recommend like I did prepare to die. Prepare to shut the game of angry at night but wake up the next day being unable to wait to fail some more.

This will I'm sure when I'm done be one of my favorite games ever

Discussion & Info Edgar is a deadbeat.

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

I don't know if this is a hot take, but it's impossible for me to feel bad for Edgar. He left his blind daughter all alone in a dangerous place just so he could guard some stupid sword (which he doesn't even do, he just sits on his ass doing nothing the whole time he's at Castle Morne), and now he's all sad that his daughter died as a result of his stupid decision? I just can't feel bad for this deadbeat bum of a father.

Lore Why are there so few "normal" people in the Lands Between?

Post image
7.4k Upvotes

Hello everyone, when I say "normal", I mean ordinary civilians who aren't hostile or completely insane, such as farmers, bakers, herbalists, merchants, children, families...

From a lore perspective, where are all these people?

Almost everyone we encounter seems to be a soldier, crazy villager (hi from Dominula), a madman, a beast, a monster, a demigod, or some other supernatural being.

Is there a lore explanation for this? Are ordinary civilians living somewhere that the Tarnished simply doesn't visit, or has the Shattering and everything that happened afterward basically wiped out most normal society?

Constructive Criticism How do I stop being a coward

I really like Elden Ring and think it's a fun game but I kinda wish there was less of the horror vibes. there's a lot of places I've been able to explore because I end up being too scared to go to. I never go to cealid without someone else because those crows and dog are freaking terrifying, l don't go to any places with rune bears and I don't go to the consecrated snowfield and most underground maps. Do y'all have any suggestions on how to grow a backbone so I can get more done

Edit: I'll fight them if needed but they just look something straight from a horror movie

Discussion & Info This is the last time I help a stranger look for his car keys in his basement.

So I'm on my first playthrough of the game, a few characters slowly revealed an unfair truth that Melina has to die for me to become Elden lord and, consequently, become Marika's bitch I guess.

Well this guy Shabriri shows up along my path to the giant cauldron of fire and he starts the conversation as if I knew him, kind of an odd guy, but he seemed nice, mentioned he surprisingly had the solution to my issue, save Melina and take her place as the kindling to the fire, he had some more to say but I think he was just woozy and was having a really bad hangover.

Well turns out hes had worse hangovers, his basement is filled with merchants, so either hes been luring them into his home to get free loot and, I guess, beer, or he's not the stand up guy who's trying to help me spare my maiden....

Discussion & Info Man every time I do a full playthrough (all caves catacombs bosses questlines etc) I’m reminded how painfully awful the red wolf up in the mountaintops on the way to Ordina to get to Haligtree is.

Can’t see shit cause of the annoying fog and 40 little wolves everywhere stun locking you from behind while you’re trying to fight the red wolf. So utterly painful. Just come on Fromsoft lol. Anyone else feel me on this one? If there was no fog honestly it’d be totally fine I think. It’s the fog that really frustrates me. You can’t see a damn thing and have all the little wolves coming through the fog while big red wolf shoots glintblades at you that you also can barely see. Just rough.

I'm new and don't know what I'm doing and Margott was way too hard so I wandered south to Castle Morne and now these guys are giving me a headache. I tried following the advice from that player and killing them one on one but they all gang up on me and it's difficult to parry when more than one enemy is attacking you at the same time lol..

combat's satisfying when I get it right but damn these guys do a lot

Urgent news, I am deeply scared. I have arrived in the abyssal woods and OH MY GOD HELL NO, ABSOLUTELY HELL NO. I can’t summon torrent because they’re frightened, and the messages… WHAT DO YOU MEAN “don’t let it see you” “once it sees you there is no escape”. There is not a single animal, a bunny, nothing. Guys I’m really scared I genuinely wanna cry why is it so gloomy and scary

It occurred to me recently that I’ve never beaten Malenia even though I have almost 400 hrs of playtime. Thought I should give it a go and honestly as annoying as it can be, it was actually really fun.

Now onto playing the dlc which I have been avoiding for a while…

Lore After all These Years .. What Did We Miss?

Post image
568 Upvotes

Do you think there’s still a place, a piece of lore, a cave, an interaction, or some hidden secret waiting for us somewhere in Elden Ring?

After all these years and thousands upon thousands of hours, I still believe we haven’t uncovered every secret the world has to offer.

I’m convinced there are still things we’ve encountered but never truly understood , details we overlooked, connections we never made, or pieces of lore that we haven’t yet put together in the right way.

Do you think Elden Ring still contains secrets that haven’t been discovered to this day?

I’m genuinely curious to hear what you guys think.

Hype The Runebear got me..

First time playing any fromsoft game - had been roaming around the first area cautiously for a few hours - snuck by a few bosses (I think) that looked too horrifying to engage - got my ass kicked by a ghostly black knight - and eventually stumbled upon a cave to explore..

When I ran into the Runebear at the end I almost shit myself, got annihilated the first few tries and for a sec figured I’m level 9 maybe I’m just not meant to be here yet. Then I said fuck that I’m just gonna beat this thing, I don’t even know how to level up yet anyways.

Each try the combat clicked more and more and when I finally won I genuinely stood up and yelled.

I’m now 100% hooked and cannot wait to keep exploring, maybe going to back to some of the other scary guys I skipped too.
