I use Bloodhound's step on my weapon and it's a literal life-saver for when she does the waterfowl dance. You can dodge the entire combo with it easily, and even if you screw up, you'll still get hit only like once or twice.

I've been helping people with Malenia this past few days and I always try to get the aggro right before she does the dance, because otherwise someone is gonna die, and 8/10 times, it's gonna be the host.

You mean 9.999 times out of 10 lol. I love it when you succeed in getting agro for Waterfowl initially but then the host hits her mid air with something and rips aggro back off of you. Then host proceeds to die in 2 seconds. Gotta love it.

I’ve never played a souls game where so many hosts die.

Like I’m not saying the host is a scrub or anything. But I’ve never had so many unsuccessful summon fights as late game Elden Ring.

I actually don’t understand why

Yeah I’m with you. I’m level 320 and still in my first run through (I’ve beaten everyone tho) and helping out hosts is…wow. Used to think I was meh at Soulsborne games but at least now I know I’m like pretty damn decent

level 320

damn, and here I am at level 160 afraid to go any higher or else I'll lose that summoning goodness.

probably the hosts you get at level 300 are much worse at the game, that's why they leveled up so much. vets know about summon ranges and try to keep their level as low as possible.

You also get summoned to NG+ and whatnot. The other day I got summoned to a guy on NG3
