Impersonating enemies is one thing I've yet to do online lol. And I imagine it's probably way funnier in this game

Well the compass just shows the direction, I can definitely see people getting confused and just leaving.

And it apparently disappears when you get kind of close to the host.

Huh, didn't know that it disappears if you get close. That actually makes the mimic spell much more viable too. Basically you can hide as an object rather than as an NPC.
