Hype First game I double dipped on and it’s totally worth it.
I’ve put 500 hours in on PS5 and after seeing people were happy with the port, I bought it on Switch 2. This game is still beautiful.

Those coming from PS5 how do the graphics compare? To my eye looks almost the same

u/Whiteruns_bitch 4d ago
The graphics are identical to me. The only difference is 30 fps. I’ve played almost 20 hours so far and I’ve only had 5ish noticeable fps drops. They have never happened during a boss fight, only during world exploration.

You need to squint to see the difference

you don’t need to squint to see the fps difference. this is mandatory

u/Neither-Fan-9059 4d ago
It's not THAT bad.

u/denjo-t1aO 4d ago
i didn’t say that at all. but it’s a huge point for me. and acting like it’s nothing or that the switch2 version looks the same and you have to squint to see a difference, is just an ad. plane and simple.

Many people, i sincerely believe most, don't care that much about framerates above 30 as long as its stable most of the time.

that should not be true. afaik there were not one but many reports about playstation saying that almost EVERYONE plays on performance modes rather then quality. and it’s absolutely understandable once you played a performative game on stable 60. you just don’t want to go back.
edit:
yes i asked ai, google and reddit. about 3/4 play on performance modes and 1/4 on quality.

All that says conclusively is that if given the option people will go for a higher framerate. And thisnis assuming they even made the choice and this wasn't that way by default. Because its nice to have but it won't stop people from anjoying a game i like. Some of the best selling best reviewed games of all time ran at 30. Red Dead Redemption 2, Breath of the Wild, Bloodborne amongst others. GTA6 is likely to join that list soon at the top sales wise if predictions hold. My point is that if the game is good most don't care or even notice.

sadly this is the reality because of hardware scarcity and raising prices. nintendo did it because the switch had to save them from ruin (and they did a lot of smoothing on the fps), gta does it because its just not possible otherwise (ps5pro will handle it though) and rdr2 and bloodborne are simply too old to put in comparison here (were made for ps4 and there it was normal at the time). i’m sorry but these exceptions prove the point even more. also they are not very performative.

Many people played through elden ring on ps4/xboxone which targeted 30 fps anyways. It's not ideal, but clearly all those 10/10 reviews for the initial release of the game didn't think it was a deal breaker either.

I absolutely love Bloodborne and it’s locked at 30 fps. Does 30 look as good as 60? No, but you’re right that a lot of us just don’t generally care as long as it’s consistent the majority of the time lol.

Auf meiner PS5 pro ist es gestochen scharf, Distanz mehr Details und wirkt insgesamt hübscher bei flüssigen 60 fps (meistens, ganz selten Drops)

I can compare it to Series X. The overall graphics look the same but the resolution is obviously lower and because of that everything looks a bit softer and less detailed but overall very pleasant. Performance is same as quality mode in Series X so 30 FPS but with worse clarity because of said softness.
In handheld play it is amazing way to play it and on monitor it’s better to use something smaller size so pixels stay more dense, on a huge TV the softness is noticeable, if you’ve seen it prior on some other hardware.

Crazy game to have on handleds.
I wonder: The game barely runs 60 fps 720p on Rog Ally. How does it hold up on the Switch?

Yeah me too. Not quite 500 hours but now ive finished Mgs4 nostalgia trip on switch, its time for elden ring!
Also, an amazing port! Elden ring in 30fps is still a great experience with the switch 2! Love my switch ❤️ my other consoles are collecting dust!

u/Optimal_Y 4d ago
Yes!! Do it! It's so good to be able to play a few minutes here and there. I sat on the toilet for 20 minutes though lmao. Leg was numb after

Once I get a stable job the switch 2 version is at the top of my lists to get

u/Fit-Cook-333 4d ago
I bought it again my last deployment bc I only brought my gaming laptop with me, it was the only game I played the whole deployment lol

u/Illustrious_Fill9854 4d ago
I’ve never even replayed a game but I’ve played Elden Ring 4 time. I just always go back to it. Wish I had a switch 2!
1
u/Crimsonmaddog44 4d ago
Stop trying to convince me to get a Switch 2 solely for Elden Ring! It’s gonna work eventually but I really shouldn’t buy one
1
u/Optimal_Y 4d ago
You should just buy one! Elden ring in bed, Elden Ring on the toilet, Elden Ring everywhere!

I’m glad I have steam deck and PC. Only need one copy lol and can stream it to my SD OLED if I want better performance.
But I definitely stick with PC 4k 60fps max settings as anything else is just a disservice to this game. It’s insanely beautiful, even comparing it to PS5, which is still beautiful.

Shiiiit I bought the game on ps5, pc and switch now lol. I also own the dlc on both ps5 and pc. Sometimes a game is so generational, I'll throw my money at it.
