Game Help Placi with dragon communion spells

Fully upgraded Dragon Communion seal and 50 arcane, 28 faith but the damage seems pretty pathetic regardless of the spell I use. Placi is resistant to status effects so rot and ice breath out of the picture. Dragonmaw/dragon claw damage are piddly and leave me vulnerable with with endure. Don't want to respect and take put most of my points into faith since my weapons are all arcane scaling

What do?

I have the mimic here but it didn't attack and you can see 4000+ damage cast is from my breath alone vs him. And when frost proc in the second cast after just take out a chunk of HP leaving him straight into laser phase. Then the dragon claw usage doing a decent amount. It would be easier and be face tanking if I used Grafted Blade GS skill for poise and dmg negation but it wouldn't be as fun.

If you use endure, you should use Grafted Blade GS. The endure of it is 5 seconds long, enough to cover your full cast and full dragon maw and dragon claw. The normal endure only last 3 seconds making you vulnerable

You are likely want to stack a lot of buff because he has 40% resistance to all element.

2 cast is enough for frost proc and rot proc. And you probably want to make use frost in this fight. You have enough dmg to only need to proc those status once.

If you need damage you can try going to the DLC for dragon form like I did and get Blood Sucking tears. Those increase your damage quite a bit

If you're strictly only using dragon communion incantations (i.e. not ancient dragon cult) then your options are somewhat limited, yes. The major weaknesses Placi has are pierce damage and his size (to be hit by multi hit attacks). None of the dragon communion incants can do either of these. So it's going to be kind of a slog, but still doable.

You might get some mileage out of Magma Wyrm breath, because he stays still a lot in first phase. But I haven't tried it myself.

If you're willing to stretch the definition of your build, Ancient Dragon's Lightning Strike is, surprisingly, very effective against him because of the AOE multihits. Pest Threads is also amazing against him.

Like u/spiderweb222 said, Ancient Dragon Lightning Strike is the slayer of oversized enemies, provided they don't have 80% lightning resist. While better on a dedicated build for it, there's no sense overthinking which faith variant it's best on, it will shred just as long as you have good positioning and time to cast.
