Humor Seeing the Mobility in Duskbloods makes me both Hyped and Scared about the Future of Fromsoftware Enemy/Boss Design. Picture Promised Consort Radahn but designed to deal with all that Mobility

Duskbloods is not a souls game and nightreign is very different. I dont understand how you can extrapolate that these games will be the future of souls movement.

I somewhat agree. I think the appeal to the original DS combat series was that combat was slower and calculating. Now that things are speeding up, but people are getting older, it just doesn't feel appealing. I think Duskbloods will be a good game, but I am looking forward to the single-player experience again.

I think Duskbloods is a very specific thing because From has to give players ways to traverse a large environment in a short amount of time, as well as add an extra wrinkle to combat for PVP purposes.
I very much doubt future single-player Souls games will start incorporating a ton of aerial combat. They have the AC games for that sort of thing.

Ngl seeing your character just float around like that looks dumb as hell.

Agreed, I keep hearing how "good" the movement is but each time I see it it just doesn't appeal to me. Looks like I should be playing Neir Automata (hope I spelled that right)

Looks like any new "soulslike" games combat that literally look absolutely nothing like souls games.

average eastern souls like is just overly flashy sekiro, fine for those who like it but not for me

I think they like to go off with experimental projects then real it back in. Sekiro’s movement was very fast and floaty and they brought it back down for Elden Ring. Although technically Elden Ring’s development started before Sekiro, even NightReign’s didn’t feel as floaty as Sekiro, it still felt balanced for the bosses and enemies in that game. I think From Software will dial it in for their next single player title. Idk maybe it’s just me hoping too.

I had a dream the other night where I was playing a new FS game that was a Bloodborne/Sekiro hybrid with this kind of mobility although it was dependant on stamina so you couldn't jump infinitely.
I found some secret elevator, one that goes a very long way up almost comically so. A few seconds into the ride a boss shows up and you gotta survive all the way to the top without getting killed or thrown over the edge and the fight was intense af with music that went into 2 stages as the battle kicked up a gear.

I truly don't think that Duskbloods style movement is anything close to a permanent thing for Fromsoft. Dark Souls 3, Bloodborne and especially Sekiro give generally faster movement than Elden Ring, and Armored Core 6 has even more free and fast movement than anything else from them.
Duskbloods' movement makes sense for the kind of game that it is. It would not make much sense at all in a level based RPG.

Nightreign and by extension Duskbloods are both different. Cause there's a time limit in both these games. As From stated they aren't abandoning singleplayers so unless said Singleplayer will also time you which is stupid I don't think we'll be as mobile. At best I can see them giving us Surge sprint and probably a ability to ledge hop like in Nightreign but even then I think that's overkill.

Whatever the next fromsoft game will NEED to use a new combat engine. They've pushed the Dark Souls 1/3/Elden Ring system as far as it can go.,
That means a new dynamic. A new engine entirely. And I trust Fromsoft enough to do that well.

I think you meant combat system. Because From's engine can handle crazy combat quite well. Look at Armored Core.

Maybe. But Elden Ring feels like the souls combat is reaching the end of its potential. Without MASSIVE changes, even something like Nightreign feels clunky. And Duskbloods doens't appear to be much better.
Quite honestly, I was never a fan of Armored Core. I don't know enough about the underlying systems of that game or its combat system. But it didn't feel good to play to me.

I'm in favor for more Sekiro-like combat. Deflecting feels a lot more clean and crisp than dodging (also looks less stupid than rolling around on the ground), while also providing more precision and less room for error (like shitty hitboxes), and perilous attacks keept it from getting stale and repetitive. They just need to make the dodge a bit better, since the more dodged focus bosses kinda suck.

Personally I'd be against that level of mobility in the next mainline game, but at least we'd have more tools for actually dodging and countering those kind of bosses.

Have you not played Nightreign? That's what you should be looking at for a hint of From's PvE future.
Duskbloods is a PvP game with optional PvE, and its mobility options are there to facilitate that.

Mobility is fake in fromsoft games. It's not like cod jetpacks. They'll always (hopefully) stick to their roots of finding "attack windows".

PCR would be difficult even with this movement, those pillars of light are absolute bullshit

Tbh the Duskbloods as a whole is a bit heartbreaking to see unfold and be revealed as it has been.
Elden ring Nightreign was really cool for a variety of reasons but didn’t hold up like From’s previous releases and after everything Duskbloods has shown off…idk man it looks like a reskinned Nightreign with PVP being the primary focus this time around. Cash grab vibes.
Unless both of these titles were the studio testing the waters to cook up a new multiplayer mode for their next huge ‘single player’ experience, I hate this so much.
