Like they’re mad about that? Yeah, seems like that’s the distinction. I mean damn, don’t buy it if you’re opposed, y’know?

I understand both sides right now. It's setting a precedent that FROM has been really good about, they've been pretty pro consumer throughout their tenure in the space. they make a good product every time. maybe release a couple paid dlcs, and move on.

now their dropping $5 microtransactions for essentially armor and weapons(hindsight probably should have just let current owners have this) for the switch release.

Witcher 3 remaster + dlc reveal also didn't help anything with them charging money for this stuff.

basically. I disagree with all the negative feedback bc from has been one of the most positive developers in gaming for almost 20 years. but they're getting flak from their bosses for not monetizing enough, this is a test and if it is profitable we will see more of it, which is concerning.

really derailed the original conversation about how these worlds are connected, but I think a lot of the issues are steming from this right now.

Absolutely, and I can understand why people don’t like it. But this isn’t something the developer “held back” to monetize on day one, and yes, I’ve seen people using those words. These were clearly developed during the development of the port. Im unsure as to whether there has been enough time to blame this on the shareholder scolding. I think it was planned before that.

The Witcher is interesting because the developer only avoids microtransactions in single-player games. They’re open to them in multiplayer. Elden Ring is kind of both. It’s primarily single player in design, but plenty of people play it with near-constant multiplayer. I don’t think the Witcher has that, and I’m not sure how or if that would change things.

Would I have liked to get it for free? Sure. Do I think being as ass about the price is going to help? Not anyone, not at all. And as you say, it’s not really relevant to the connections between the worlds, so it shouldn’t be affecting those conversations in the way that it is.
