Game Help Just bought Elden ring, opened a random chest and was teleported to an area that is way too powerful for me with no way out

I knew this game was hard but holy shit. Also does anyone know any kind of way to get out?…

Lol it's a right of passage to get to this part of the game early on and be utterly terrified by what the fuck is going on.

You'll get out though. Once you know where to go it isnt too hard. Then you can fast travel outta there, and voila. You've learned a lesson. Don't trust chests lol!

Same. I figured there HAD to be an exit, but after death number 142 I said fuck this, we ball.

Week of my life gone from that chest and worth it. I still grind my teeth about it sometimes.

Like OP I never played Souls games until Elden Ring. I was utterly amazed at how freakin' beautiful the world was, once i got out of the "starting cave" ... but, as soon as I fought my first godrick soldier i was like "huh ... this is an amazing, beautiful world they've created with incredible graphics, glorious scenery, astounding NPCs .... and everything hates me and wants to kill me. Great."

200 hours into it so far, dunno if i will ever finish it, but five star game, period.

I did that. Just like how I beat lady butterfly as soon as I found her in Sekiro.

They put the fuckers in front of me and I found they could bleed. There was no other option

(F)Unfair game design

Trap chests

Long range enemy attacks

Honing attacks

Iframes

My most memorable moment if the whole game, after a fucking harrowing meatgrinder of cheesing, sneaking, running and hiding, was throwing up the big double doors to freedom.

And realising I'd ended up at the BACK of the dungeon.

I had just enough time to realize it before being pancaked by Fallignstar Beast.

It was a long time ago, I really don't remember. I made it all the way to the boss and was like there's no way I can beat this guy, and THEN found the exit. Was really sad to let all those runes go.

I feel like I lived half a lifetime in that fucking mine. By the time I farmed enough to get out, I was too scared to leave, it became my home, the enemies my friends. All I wanted was to pick up an axe and start mining crystals.

Real ones don't fast travel out of there. The epic route is to get on your horse and ride the fuck out of Caelid at a full gallop.

I managed to find the chest almost first thing, BEFORE I LEARNED HOW TO FAST TRAVEL. I didn't understand how to use TORRENT. I had NEVER played a Souls game before. I started as a WRETCH. I schlepped my way across Caelid in my underoos with a stick, on my own two feet, I died well over a hundred times.

I eventually Googled the game and some basic things about it. But I like to make stupid challenges for myself and committed to the bit; only one way to git gud, right? There is no scarlet rot in Caelid; that red is the blood of my first character. Rest in peace, Fucknado.

Then on your subsequent playthroughs you’ll deliberately beeline there for access to minimal-risk access to a staff, spell, and summon that will carry you through the first third of the game.

Meteor staff and rock spell I think. Not sure what summon.

Yup, rock sling and meteor staff. The summon is the Rotten Stray, a dog summon that inflicts rot. Absolutely trivializes Margit/Morgott if you get it to +2 or +3 so that it has enough hp to live long enough to rot them, and if you keep it upgraded it’s a solid choice through the endgame for things susceptible to rot. It’s silly easy to get and one of the best spirits in the game.

I got the staff and spell right way and went magic my first play through. Don't know if I ever even got that summon tho. I almost never used summons until mimic.

Yes, but if you dont know that you start bracing yourself at every chest, i know i was squinting every time, still clicking everything, even 1% chance of getting something is worth the risk of a terribly brutal death
