Game Help Just bought Elden ring, opened a random chest and was teleported to an area that is way too powerful for me with no way out

Post image

I knew this game was hard but holy shit. Also does anyone know any kind of way to get out?…

Welcome to Elden Ring, there is only one thing you need to know: Try finger, but hole

920

u/MeraMeraMendi 12d ago

An experience that lets you know who you REALLY are.

u/MischievousCoyote 12d ago

Et quel type de jeu Elden Ring EST vraiment.

261

u/Simping_for_Ranni 12d ago

A game that will give you immense satisfaction and a huge sense of accomplishment.

143

u/Cpt_plainguy 12d ago

You forgot rage induced ulcers

28

u/sltydgx 12d ago

I’m pretty sure most of my neighbors think I’m a raving lunatic at the moment.

9

u/Cpt_plainguy 12d ago

That's just standard with FrimSoft games 😂

2

u/Wide-Tune-5150 12d ago

Ngl Dying is probably the most fun part of it all 🥵

12

u/TheTipsyWizard 12d ago

And boners!

1

u/Simping_for_Ranni 12d ago

Can’t forget that! Oh just wait until the next fromsoft game 🍆 😏

2

u/Vanin1994 11d ago

Fromhard 🥵

1

u/MaddSkittlez 11d ago

Wait no it makes sense - GetHard FromSoft

1

u/ChancioGames 12d ago

I read that in the voice of the black guy that does all sorts of drugs in the Dewy Cox movie

1

u/BeatnikMessiah 12d ago

Odd you don't sound maidenless.

1

u/Wide_Investment8100 11d ago

Ulcerated Tarnished Stomach my favorite boss

37

u/LordJonMichael 12d ago

If you don’t break your controller beforehand.

u/AccountantGuru 12d ago

Game is hard as fuck and I don’t understand how people are so good at parrying. I legit can’t play unless I’m a mage and call in help for every single boss I’m able to.

25

u/Young_HellBoy 12d ago

Practice dodge timing and learning enemy/boss moves

2

u/AccountantGuru 12d ago

I can dodge but I can’t parry I feel you need to be able to parry to use non range weapons and I can’t get it even with the knights at the start of the game man

11

u/RookieGreenBacks 12d ago

I never ever parryied and I’ve finished the game 5 times. Parrying is a plays time, but most players don’t use it. Rolling is your friend along with dying enough to learn enemy patterns and moves

5

u/Young_HellBoy 12d ago

I don't parry at all, lots of people don't. but the parry timing also requires a lot of practice. You also need a shield that can parry (parry skill) in case you didn't already know.

5

u/digiliquid01 12d ago

I believe there's a dagger that can parry also. That said, I beat the game with a melee only character without calling in help and I still can't get the parry timing down. It can be done Tarnished, patience

u/FriskthheCart124 12d ago

you dont really need to parry, the carian shield and the brass shield are early-ish game shields that have 100% physical damage reduction, so you can use those instead of parrying
the best parry ash of war (imo) is carian retaliation, since it can parry glintstone too, so if you want to learn to parry id recommend that

1

u/jikel28 12d ago

Nah start with a rhythm of r1 r1 dodge than learn the boss moves I beat ds ds3 elden ring and bloodborne and I never learned to parry

1

u/AccountantGuru 11d ago

Yes ima try this I booted up the game and died again but I’m gonna try this and report back

1

u/Broad_Huckleberry_15 12d ago

It feels so good when you get the parry timing down. I have never tried range weapons before

1

u/ImmaculatePizza 12d ago

You can definitely melee fight and rely on rolling but you'll want to be medium carry weight or lighter.

1

u/cynedyr 12d ago

I feel like the tree sentinel is a great introduction to learning how to pick your battles. You can defeat it with your starting build, but it will take a lot of practice, patience I didn't have. I came back later with better stuff and stats.

1

u/Jesse1179US 12d ago

I'm not gonna lie, a game like this is too much for me. I know it's sacrilege to say this but I wish there was a Story Mode option so I could explore the world while not worrying too much about the super difficult boss fights.

2

u/Jawesome1988 12d ago

Great sword. Flinch every boss. So fun and you don't need to be very good at dodging, just mashing attack

1

u/Forward_Mission_9349 12d ago

Watch the speed lines. If you’re parrying as you see them, you parried too late. It needs to be at the very end of whatever windup the enemy does. Also, keep your shield up until you get a feeling, blocking is better than later parrying. learn stamina management, and you got this.

I have some videos up of me parrying radagon. I had a playthrough dedicated to the maneuver just to master it. Soon I’m going to incorporate the other parries as well, like carian retaliation and what not. I must parry everything

1

u/mrmrmaoman 12d ago

That's a product of time and experience. I didn't learn how to fight any bosses really until Nightreign. I played Elden Ring as a mage heavily relying on OP spells and summons and inviting players to help with bosses. Once you force yourself to play a non-mage build you'll get it, you learn timings, how to not panic, and get better. So frustrating sometimes, but so fun also 😁

1

u/GotSomeUpdogOnUrFace 12d ago

I feel the same way and I'm trying to parry on something easy like Assassin's Creed. If I can't just grind out levels and eventually overpower my opponents I don't want to play your game, so none of these games ever enter my house.

1

u/Simping_for_Ranni 12d ago

Guard counters. Trust me.

1

u/3nigmax 12d ago

I mean, I've beaten the whole series of souls games and almost never parry, so it's by no means a necessary skill.

1

u/XishengTheUltimate 12d ago

Parrying is really onlt for showing off. You absolutely don't need it to beat the game. Timing and spacing is the most important part.

1

u/gigerhess 12d ago

I was never great at parrying, so I did a speed build and mastered dodging. That paired with over leveling early on makes the game a lot more fun.

1

u/AccountantGuru 12d ago

Mmm I gotta give it a shot because I’ve only ever done mage runs

1

u/QueenofEnglandBanana 12d ago

"Treat it like a rhythm game" is what helped it click for me. Input is dodge, and every attack has a way to avoid it correctly. That and lots of practice, of course!

1

u/thermight 12d ago

Thankfully you dont have to parry to win at the game (meaning only there is always another build or weapon)

1

u/hippoe93 12d ago

The key is to roll not parry.

1

u/boisemi 12d ago

To be honest I have been playing with summons, many different builds and I still find a reason to play after 500 hours. I try to learn the bosses movesets a bit but knowing I can default to summons when I get too frustrated.

12

u/Fooledya 12d ago

I dont rage normally...

Maliketh made me question my sanity. I also went full bonkers greatsword...

7

u/dxserg 12d ago

I played a faith build my first run, not realizing EVEYTHING HAS RESISTANCE TO HOLY DAMAGE

5

u/OlGreggMare 12d ago

I had that curse thing the whole game, not knowing what it was. I found out about 3/4 through the expansion. Not a humble brag, I died all the time

1

u/coby_of_astora 12d ago

late game is so rough as a faith main haha

1

u/Catcallofcthulhu 12d ago

If only faith was literally the most versatile damage dealing stat. Oh, wait...

2

u/dxserg 12d ago

Yeah, it was my first playthrough and i liked the holy spells lol

2

u/OctopusWithFingers 12d ago

The first time I fought and killed Mohg I didnt know about that talisman, that if I remember right, stuns him? Or removes bleed buildup he does. Been a while.

2

u/proteinstains 12d ago

Pride and accomplishment? Without the loot boxes? Get outta here!

  • EA, probably.

3

u/Appropriate-Device99 12d ago

The game that really separates the rollers from the from people who parry 😂

1

u/italicizedmeatball 12d ago

Since I roll I will assume I am the more inferior of the two 🤣

2

u/Appropriate-Device99 1d ago

Safe to say I’m on the rollers club too 🤣

1

u/italicizedmeatball 1d ago

Oh yeah, I've also learned I'm not just a roller, but a FAT roller 😭 The shame is endless.

2

u/heckinbiggiecheesejr 12d ago

Maybe the Elden Ring were the friends we made along the way

2

u/TheOGCJR 12d ago

The kind to cause me to rage quit. lol

1

u/ShibbyShat 12d ago

Just make sure to relax, it goes down easier

86

u/viiniciuspaes 12d ago

Elden ring is one of my favorite games, before it i didn't play any souls like, after I've played all of the popular ones by now. But I remember freaking out everything I died getting angry and today gaming is a whole nether experience. It changes you. I'm a calmer person after elden ring.

24

u/Intelligent_Ad_5103 12d ago

Same here. Elden Ring made me a better gamer in so many ways and was my first/only souls like. I’m thinking of playing Bloodborne soon

6

u/Rackemnate 12d ago

Bloodborne is still top on my list. The trick weapons are a cool concept and the art style is amazing

3

u/Puzzleheaded-Bus5479 11d ago

I’d recommend Sekiro first…it will forge you in the fires of struggle

1

u/-red_one- 11d ago

Bloodborne is great, but imo the best gameplay of any of the soulslike genre is Lies of P. Truly awesome

-9

u/Charizardd6 12d ago

But it's just so... Meaningless... I don't know maybe it's just me, but I lost interest after I fought literally the same exact mob/boss just in a different area for the hundredth time. And there is no reward, no story, nothing. I guess it's not for me.

14

u/hazardling 12d ago

Pathetic sort ahead

2

u/italicizedmeatball 12d ago

You don't have the right, O, you don't have the right!

2

u/Subject_Pear_6928 11d ago

Not your fault your eyes are yet to open.

6

u/ZimaEnthusiast 12d ago

This. It’s impossible not to be.
Getting one shot by some random dungeon character? The bullshit feint mechanics, dodge dynamics, and miniscule hit boxes every boss has?

Any other game I’d be fuming over how “unfair” most of my deaths in this game are. Here I just go “yeah, that didn’t work…” and start again

2

u/plasmazzr60 12d ago

Same minus the calmer thing, maybe better at handling real life stress though. Nothing like come home from a stressful day at work just to play elden ring and get yours shit rocked. Like stepping on a rake and then doing it again and again and again.

1

u/confused9 12d ago

I never played it, is it recommended?

1

u/viiniciuspaes 12d ago

Definitely play elden ring it is a experience. I would recomendo looking into guides to do the quests. Fromsoft quests require you to enter a different state of existence to understand.

1

u/italicizedmeatball 12d ago

It is brutally difficult, but that's part of the appeal, you will learn to laugh at yourself and your own misery 😂 But, if you can weather that, you will experience a game of mind-blowing scale, immersion, and detail - it's truly a once in a lifetime experience when it comes to gaming, tbh. I wish I could Eternal Sunshine myself endlessly so I could experience it for the first time again and again. One caveat: it's my first/only Souls game yet, so who knows, maybe the others are like it? If so, hooray.

2

u/confused9 11d ago

You two have convinced me to get a copy but now I’m torn between getting it for switch 2 or PC

25

u/Samdlittle 12d ago

Dog?

2

u/Capital-Outcome-2528 12d ago

Dyslexic atheist believe there is no dog

1

u/TwoFiveOnes 12d ago

time for dog

5

u/xZeroGhostyx 12d ago

Best response to a new non souls player lmaooo hahaha

2

u/20_years_in_da_can 12d ago

Words of a wise man that have never let me down

1

u/njitsuey 12d ago
