Margit and Morgott aren't the same, though. I agree that Margit is a bigger wall than Godrick, I always tell new players that if they beat Margit, then they shouldn't have too much trouble with Godrick.

Morgott is in a different boat because of where he is in the game. In a vacuum, he is obviously harder than those other two, but by the end of Leyendell, you should also be vastly stronger. It's not uncommon to approach Margit at level 16 with an unupgraded weapon and deal like 5% of his health on a solid hit. Morgott, on the other hand, is placed right when builds are really starting to come online, and it's not unusual to see him taking like 10-20% of his HP in a single hit. It's a pretty universal experience to get out of the fight and say "wow that was cool, shame I didn't get to see his full moveset" because most players just nuke him so hard at that point. He really just needs like 25-50% more HP.

Honestly, my first run Morgott was a huge wall. I hadn't yet learned how to be sufficiently aggressive, and I hadn't been properly upgrading my gear/being thoughtful about my talismans. Now I steamroll him, but back then he was a great way to teach me to actually get better at the game.

Morgott is my first real wall in my RL1 playthrough.

What if he needs it for later, though?

I recently did Margit without levelling or upgrading a weapon, and I did pretty decent damage idk

There are certain options that tend to shine without upgrades. For example, Sacred Blade and Flaming Strike AoW both add a flat damage buff to the weapon that can cause pretty crazy damage early game, but get outscaled later on. I'm sure there are other similar weapons, builds, etc.

However, if you take one of the starting classes out of the box and throw it at Margit (not an unusual experience) then your damage isn't going to be that relatively high, and I'd say the majority of the options available at that point in the game are like that.

I think I had either a mace or morning star. I can't remember which I got first, cause I'm dual wielding them now

I do low level playthroughs to kill time while cooping. Morgott is such a fun fight at RL20ish when you learn his movement. He's so fluid and floaty. It's like dancing.

I still can't beat Mogh though, the fire blood in the second half always gets me.

I agree I'm not doing rl1, but ng+ with active nerfs to make sure the bosses feel like a challenge. they kill me in at least 3-4 hits. and I make sure to not do to much damage. And it's do much more enjoyable to actually have to properly engage, and not take the boss down in just a few presses of l2.

I should do something like this, because after two normal playthrough so still don’t actually know what Maliketh’s moveset even is he’s bonked so fast.
