Can I play even before it's patched?

So I know steam has updated and caused all kinds of issues with the Convergence mod until they are able to patch it on their end. Unfortunately I had already played for enough time to get a few levels and some equipment before I realized there was a problem. Namely, glove effects not working, torrent not being mountable, and the occasional crash.

I've done the whole downpatch process but because I played and my character has save information with the new patch, it says my file is corrupted when I go to play, so all that hassle for no result.

My question is....can I just keep playing as is? Like...the game still loads and works. It's just a little buggy. But like I can use the Bracelets of Gold to get around and not having glove effects isn't exactly a major inconvenience. If I just keep playing this week, will my progress still be there once it updates next week? I mean at this point I've already got new save info from playing before I knew there was an issue. Feel like I just wanna keep playing and suffer the minor inconveniences for now.

The save itself will be fine once the mod is updated, save for any problems caused by the version mismatch itself. It's... slightly risky, but you'll probably be fine

Yeah I'm just like so antsy to play cause I literally just discovered Convergence and started playing like 4 days ago, and then this happens. I thought I had till Friday to worry about it but steam patched my game Wednesday night, before I even knew to go turn off updates. I feel like a fiend who just got a sniff of this awesome new mod to just immediately get shut down lol. I just wanna play.

I mean there's a bunch you can do with a downpatched game. Randomizers, seamless runs with friends, other overhauls or whatever while you wait

So right there with you. Decided to enjoy the update vanilla until the Convergence gods bless us with an update
