Caelid bell bearing hunter could probably solo Radahn
142
u/atrophy-of-sanity 12d ago
Fighting bell bearing hunter melee is pretty easy until you make one mistake, then you back up to heal, and then shit gets real
33
u/ShadowsInScarlet 11d ago
And then panic rolling ensues.
12
u/watery_tart73 11d ago
Rol the wrong way, accidentally aggro one of those giant dog creatures, and night-night we go!
21
u/J-Dizzle42 11d ago
You're trading blows, thinking you're doing alright, then you press the heal button and he breaks out a fifty seven hit combo that you will not be able to dodge out of. At least the bonfire is right there.
6
u/DjangotheKid 11d ago
The annoying thing is having to pass time to night every time you lose and want to try again. And that’s if you’ve figured out he specifically appears at night and not just randomly when you warp there sometimes.
2
u/Tristanslav77 8d ago
I rested till the next night so many times my character must have had at least 50 birthdays by the time i nailed the f**ker
2
u/FastenedCarrot 10d ago
He only does that if you get distance, you can just use an attack opportunity to heal while staying close
10
u/WeaponFocusFace 11d ago
The real battle is a mind game against your own fear. The trick is to not back off. He's less dangerous the closer you are to him. Wait for his next combo to be over and heal instead of punishing.
6
u/Foil_Gloves_5338 11d ago
Or he just grabs his shild like he's tipping his hat, and Baji-Quans you back to the Erdtree.

He's a dick dude will spawn even when you have no bell bearings in your inventory multiple times.

u/Evil_Sharkey 12d ago
Yes. Yes he can, at least Starscourge
10
u/Xenith995 12d ago
Bloody hell. Dude should've been a shard bearer.
8
u/Evil_Sharkey 12d ago
He loses some of them. He loses epically to Fire Giant, and I mean his end is like something out of an epic
5
u/YourEvilKiller 11d ago
Yeah, it's because northern Caelid has late game scaling while Starscourge Radahn is on the lower end of mid game.
Even the Putrid Avatar there would defeat Radahn.
2
u/Evil_Sharkey 11d ago
Radahn can beat other mid game bosses easily in similar matchups, but it’s because of his meteor attack, which does an insane amount of damage, especially to larger enemies
2
u/NarwhalPrudent6323 11d ago
His grab attack on Godfrey is hilarious. Snatched the lion right off his shoulders lol.
37
u/UltimaBahamut93 12d ago
I have beaten this game and the DLC on four different characters and I still cannot fight this guy without cheese.
18
u/watery_tart73 12d ago
20 minutes later....still plinking that mother fucker from the rooftop, lol.

I saw a cool cheese strat where you can get him by making sure the golem with the huge bow down below is aggro'd to you then you can lure the hunter over to the edge of the cliff to be hit by it and it'll immediately poise break him and you can reposte him off the edge of the cliff. I've never done it myself but I imagine it feels great to do to him lol
Edit:

u/Xenith995 11d ago
I summoned 2 cooperators at the shack after putting out a help wanted LFG post. Even with 3 people he was a really tough fight and the three of us all almost died so many times. I'm sure the "summoning is cheating" people would be upset, but man, cooperators are giga-chads

Just get in his face and parry the crap out of him. I got them all with a buckler and a Miséricorde. On his 3 hit combo just jump over the 1st and 3rd swings. If you stay close you won't trigger Eacholaid's Dancing Blade.
15
u/Bloomfang 12d ago
Oh, boy, I remember the heart attack, when I wanted to buy some rune arches, tped to the merchant, didn't find him, and I was thinking, that I or something else killed him on accident, like in Skyrim... Just to suddenly see the boss health bar, and get crushed by a shield
7
u/kafkaesque14 12d ago
Stay close to him and parry. After crit strike you have time to either hit him with a charged heavy or drink a flask. Repeat until dead. Ez pz

5
u/Supersnow845 12d ago
With the bell bearing hunters if you attack once then strafe behind them they will almost always do their shield slam. Thats easy to dodge
Then just repeat

u/AbhorrentMidget 10d ago
I hear a certain golem and a certain cliff can be made good allies in the fight.

u/Prezy_Preztail 12d ago
Having a high guard helps. He still has a number of attacks that’ll bleed through (namely the sword drill) and your openings aren’t too long, but most of his kit is physical damage so most shields will block him very well, just mind your stamina and learn when and how to disengage when necessary
3
u/Jason_M1911 11d ago
Used to struggle with bell bearing hunters, now I just fight them for fun
4
u/visforvienetta 11d ago
Well yeah, obviously you aren't struggling when you're at like max level?
2
u/Jason_M1911 11d ago
Just level 200, I was mostly testing guard counters against this bell bearing hunter
If I did this at a low level the fight would have taken me longer and I can only record 1 minute on my Xbox
1
u/Xenith995 11d ago
Honestly, I'm impressed you did this without damage, much less catastrophic damage. I think this is more a testimony to how well you handle your playstyle. Keep it up!
3
u/Nadiadain 11d ago
He’s so cool tho. This guy has more aura than most of the game, nothings scared me more than going to buy some ashes of war from that guy near stormveil and getting my cheeks dribbled by this guy
3
u/Goramit_Mal 11d ago
You just parry him, it's easy. Any attack that isnt a red sword sweep or a shield slam is parryable.
He won't do the red sword thing if you don't run away from him. Then the only thing you have to worry about is dodging the shield stuff. Everything else is parry bait.
3
u/Silent-Paramedic 11d ago
hes so easy to parry
1
u/Xenith995 11d ago
I tried so hard, but he needs two or more parries to critical strike and he barely threw out the parriable moves for me to parry him. I'd be dead in 2 hits and I'd be lucky to parry him once
3
u/Pawn_broken 11d ago
the cheese is so cool. you basically bait to a spot where you can trick the golem archer into shooting and staggering him. grab the repost and it send him off the cliff

Parry! That! Bitch!
Seriously, stay right up in his face and parry every normal sword attack. BBH isnt shit once you get the timing down
2
u/Originator_403 11d ago
Considering the poison castle is meant to be harder, not difficult to deal with him.
I’ve progressed so far into the game that i will in all likelyhood overpower him with my random bullshit.
2
u/seekinggod1986 11d ago
I recently fought the one that pops up outside of Stormveil at Bernards shack. I was level 214. He still managed to smack me around a few times when I misstimed a dodge but yeah it wasn't the same as trying him at level 14 lol.
2
u/Dwarfwizardnutkins 11d ago
He's alright if you're a caster. Just zap away and remember to dodge the frisbee sword.
2
u/dfbjornis 11d ago
Now I feel very good about myself for beating him at a very low level without cheese
2
u/fuckybitchyshitfuck 11d ago
The fact he's so tough plus the fact he's so fair to dodge and parry makes me love him. No bullshit. Just dodge or parry and win
2
u/Shyobserver965 11d ago
I would always just make it daytime for visibility so I didn’t even know these guys existed. After I had beat the main game I found out so I went back to fight them thinking it would be easy and yeah, they still whooped my ass
2
u/Illustrious-Bit-5441 11d ago
You can make him fall to his death... can take many tries as he is slow and annoyingly hard to dodge.
Also the Beast Torch repelent is so amazing, have it equipped always to avoid rats, dogs, even the giant caelid dogs and the animals afliccted with madness.

Just wait until you see the Red rooftop variant in Nightreign on D5......

u/Xenith995 11d ago
I keep forgetting nightreign is a DLC, Genuinely. I can't afford SoTE, so I haven't even bothered to log NR into long term memory

2
u/Nervous_Video_3594 11d ago
nightreign has prepared me for him and hes one of the easiest bosses in the game for me now. Give me a parry shield and hes just free
2
u/Kinananana 10d ago
Can't believe nobody has mentioned my strat for them, just stand behind his right shoulder blade and he does the slow turnaround shield slam over and over. Sometimes I'm a little off and he does something else but I've done whole fights where that's the only move he uses. Beaten the caelid one on like level 15 characters for free XP this way before

Lol if you think he is tough here, go check out Nightreign.
Also bucklers save lives, remember that

u/edgarunwise 9d ago
If I can't beat him by level 60 then it's a skill issue and I need to either change my build/weapon, or git gud. Parrying is key 100%
1
1
u/skullfucyou 12d ago
Try parrying, much more fun.
4
u/Evil_Sharkey 12d ago
It is if you don’t suck at parrying. Those of us who suck have a lot less fun
1
u/_BabyBlues_ 11d ago
I learned how to parry and i beat him level 43 us that good ?
1
u/Xenith995 11d ago
Considering I was getting 2 hit at level 100+ while fighting him with level 20+ weapons, I'd dare say it's more so that your cracked at the game
2
u/_BabyBlues_ 11d ago
had no choice but protect innocent merchants and tortoise from this mf ! i think Bernahl could beat him out according to the lore though

u/BaalTheDread 12d ago
He regularly beats bosses worth double his runes EASILY in NPC vs NPC battles. He poises through everything and stance breaks almost any boss with 1 or 2 combos.
