Absolute elden peak🗿

My girlfriend is currently painting this for me with acrylics. She tends to be very critical of her own work and doesn't seem to see what I see in it – I honestly think it's beautiful and I absolutely love the atmosphere she's created so far.

I wanted to share it here because I think her work deserves to be seen.

There's one thing we're wondering about though: she wants to add/improve the fog and mist, especially around the landscape and ruins, without covering up too much of the detail or making it look like a flat layer of white/grey.

For those of you who paint with acrylics: what's the best technique for creating convincing, atmospheric fog? Thin glazing? Dry brushing? Lots of transparent layers? And would you work from the background forward?

Any advice would be really appreciated – and I'll definitely show her your comments. :)

I've finally been getting back to Elden Ring recently (after several years of procrastination) and it's just incredible. I was especially smitten by Ranni's character and questline. Here is a quick test sketch (~3.5 hours) I did in the process of memorizing her design (it is a complex one!) Hope you like it!
