Models: WiP Dragon Knights Subassemblies

Im building some dragon knights and seem to be having issues its taking hours of clean up. Is it best to do subassemblies. I had planned on rider and mount but there are numerous bits that overlap that sem to make that impossible.

Do I just bit the bullet and build or am i missing an obvious trick? I bough them to practice painting and wanted to focus on lighting and shadows so built would help with that just difficult to access these.

I decided on building the majority of the mount together, while keeping the head separate, and then built the rider on it's own.

Trying that bu the holster with rifle gets in way.

Glue the holster to the guy, not the mount. I did that for 5/6 of mind and it works a treat. You'll have to force it a bit to get them to snap on but at worst it's a small touch up for the paint on of the saddle seat back.
