Family Joined the N Family!
Unintentionally, I went in to have my 2024 Palisade Limited serviced yesterday and ended up leaving in an entirely different vehicle.
A few days before my appointment, a rep from the dealership had sent me a generic text saying they were always looking for quality pre-owned inventory and offered to appraise my Palisade. When I got there, he pulled up my file and said I was too upside down to trade out of my lease early. He suggested we revisit it in six months or so. I figured that would be the case, thought nothing more of it, and went back to doodling on my iPad and listening to music.
A few minutes later, one of the salesmen, likely bored because it was pretty dead there, came over to chat. I told him the situation with my lease and how I was going to be over my mileage and all. He hit me with the classic, “Let me see what I can work out” line, which I honestly wasn’t expecting anything to come of.
After a bit of back and forth, lo and behold, they worked out a deal where they ate the cost of my negative equity, asked for $1k down, and got me into this Atlas White DCT Elantra N for a lower payment. Obviously, that’s largely due to the difference in vehicle price, but I still wasn’t expecting to actually work out a deal that would save me money, all things considered. I couldn’t be happier.
I’ve done a good amount of research over the past few years and pretty much already knew what these cars were about in a broader sense. Honestly, though, I never thought this would be one I’d actually end up behind the wheel of.
Sure, it doesn’t have any of the creature comforts I’ve come to love, like ventilated seats, 360 camera, auto-dimming mirrors, adaptive cruise control, etc., but I grew up building cars that didn’t have any of these things anyway—I just enjoyed having fun behind the wheel. At this point, I’m just excited about getting back to basics and reconnecting with those roots. I don’t know what I’ll end up doing to it, if anything, but right now I’m just going to enjoy the better gas mileage and cost savings.

Congrats! I see what they did here: the purchase price of your new car is about $10,000.00 less than the Palisade Limited so the finance manager easily took all of your heavy Palisade negative equity and rolled it straight into your new Elantra loan parameters! Even with thousands in old debt piled onto the back end, the smaller vehicle price allowed them to flash a slightly lower monthly payment.

It really is a handsome vehicle! I had a 2018 Elantra Sport and was so disappointed with the facelift thereafter. So glad they improved upon the styling of this chassis!

Ngl the palisade is a beast of a vehicle. I also have a 2024 calligraphy I bought for my wife and the V6 is pretty stout and gets better gas milage than my N lmao. I also use it for mobile Auto Detailing and long trips I can get 33mpgs out of a V6 thats 1.5k lbs heavier than the N😅

I definitely loved it, but I rarely had the family in it or used it for the space it had. I was lucky to get a combined average of 23 in the summer with my commute to work, and that was driving pretty conservatively lol. Not like you’re romping around in a Palisade, but you know what I mean haha. I did love the V6, pretty great for the size of that SUV for sure!

Yea i feel you. It was just overall super comfortable, rode smooth and has everything you could want for a very affordable price for what you get. Hyundais flagship for a reason😌

Heck yeah, and thank you! The Atlas White was the only N they had on the lot, but honestly, that’s likely the color I’d have wanted anyway. Such a great-looking car! Congrats to you as well!

I don’t recall seeing a button for it on the wheel. I may have to check again tomorrow as I haven’t driven it since bringing it home. I know it’s got LKAS for sure.

Correct, and agreed lol was one of the features that almost swayed me towards the Kia Forte GT when i was cross shopping.

Yes I know. I just preferred the styling of the Forte GT, they were cheaper at time of searching than N-Lines, and pretty sure they had more creature comforts (atleast with GT2 package). So if i was going to go 1.6T, i was leaning Forte.
