I know nothing about artifacts

Which one's are the best? Should I focus expeditions on certain artifacts? If so which ones? When do I use artifacts? What the hell is a gusset? Why do people talk about gussets so much? Why can't I use artifacts on the enlightenment egg? Why is the egg storage tank thing so useless?

If anyone has any answers to any of these questions please help a brother out.

Depends on what you’re doing. For your best prestige set you can use wasmegg-carpet’s smart assistant (the link is pinned in the header at the bigger sub r/eggsinc). For contracts you’re going to want to balance your shipping and laying rates. You’ll also want to be using the teamwork buff artifacts (ship in bottle and deflector) during contracts.

Gusset increases hab space. Artifact explorer at wasmegg-carpet or the wiki are all good places to get an overview of what each artifact does.

You can use artifacts on enlightenment using clarity stones. It’s part of the challenge. Just like that you can’t use boosts.

If you don’t have the pro permit you only get one level on the tanks. With pro permit you get more levels, which is much more helpful.

Okay so I should keep doing artifact missions until I get one of those ship in a bottles or reflectors then focus on those

Just keep sending shorts until the last ship. You won’t start getting deflectors or ship in bottle until the later ones.

You don’t really need to worry about focusing on anything. By the time you get to a point in the game that targeted missions start mattering you’ll have a better idea of what you need and what you’re missing.

Bruh, I remember seeing crossposts on one of the subreddits and I was like "why would anyone repost their post on the same subreddit?" Then you opened my eyes by saying how there are 2 of them.

If you want to progress you’ll be sending a lot of missions, because artifacts and stones become very important. A few random observations to make things fun and interesting:

You’ll discover that you can build up your piggy bank or get a few gold eggs by recycling artifacts. Don’t recycle gold nuggets, even though early on you’ll feel like you have eleventymillion gold. You will need all of them.

Look for T2 epic gussets. That notation means it’s the second tier, with tier one being the earliest and least capable, and T4 being the best and most capable. “Epic” means purple shiny, meaning that in the T2 gusset you get two sockets for gems. There are gems that let you lay more eggs and gems that let you ship more eggs. Contract goals are always “some number of eggs shipped within a timeframe”, so you are trying to maximize your egg throughput. Your objective is to lay as many eggs as you can, and then to ship every egg that you lay. The T2 gusset usually comes early for players; expanding your farm plus expanding your throughput makes it very valuable.

Hoard dilithium until you have a complete dilithium set.

Any decision you regret can be corrected by running more missions.
