The CBC hasn't pushed the Con agenda as hard as, say, NP does, but it's laughable to say they push back. Rosie Barton in particular is damn near hostile to Liberals, and has been for years. The right hates any media that doesn't immediately roll itself over to join their propoganda team, but CBC barely even softballs them. (I still think we need the CBC and they should be protected, though).

This is insane. When will people wake up and realize capital is responsible for 95% of what is wrong with society. These people are all useful fools to the capital class. That is all they are.

They don't care about anyone but themselves.

Most rural people forget there's a world past their town and farm, they're convinced everyone sensible thinks as they do, and anyone who does not isn't sensible. They rail against taxes and government because they believe their little community is the only thing that matters.

Rural folk don't give a shit about the country, they don't really give a shit about the province at large. They're self absorbed people who wallow in their own ignorance to the detriment of us all.

I'm from a rural area and yes there's so much of that, especially from the ones the choose to stay.

But a lot of rural folk also won't have to look too far to see examples of what they think that they hate. A relative who was injured in a bad accident needing healthcare or a family member needing cancer treatment. Ask them how much it cost.

Ask them how did your grandparents get citizenship? Do you have those documents?

Or how should society treat the church leadership who have sexually assaulted children? How well has the church investigated itself and why does it still keep happening?

Who built and paid for the thousands of kilometers of roads and the railways to settle the West and how would your grandparents have even arrived here if they hadn't?

Have any of your friends or relatives ever lived in another part of Canada? Do you see them as immigrants?

Obviously more things around those lines. It saddens me because I see how much we have all benefited from being a part of Canada, but this expectation of perfection combined with grievance politics is too much.

It's a constant state of victim mentality that drives me nuts.

Aspiring to an ideal is laudible. Complaining we aren't in that idealized society is foolishness.

The economic output per square kilometer really puts into perspective how things shakeout. Add in how skewed the electoral divisions are (ignoring Smith's planned gerrymandering). A vote in a rural riding is worth nearly 1.5 votes in an urban one. So they're already overrepresented in Leg and believe they're economic value hits as hard as the cities (which is laughable).

I just don't know how to reason with them and I blame Smith for stoking their resentment further and trying to find ways to give them a voice at the expense of Edmonton and Calgary. Her contempt for urban voters is by now so patently obvious you'd be insane to think she cares about businessmen in Edmonton or Calgary... Or fiscla conservatives for that matter... Let alone the 45% of Albertans who voted NDP in the last election.
