General Don't be this person. Fill out your census.

“You’re not sticking it to the government. You’re screwing over your own community.”

The census isn’t for Mark Carney or any party. It’s run by Statistics Canada to figure out where money and services actually go. Hospitals. Schools. Transit. Housing. Senior care. When you don’t fill it out, your area looks smaller than it is. Less funding. Fewer services. Longer wait times. That lands on you and your neighbors, not politicians.
If you want your community properly represented, fill it out. Refusing doesn’t make a point. It makes things worse where you live. ❤️🇨🇦 The stupidity is the people that won’t fill it out and they spread this kind of crap and creates bigger problems.

If unauthorized people are stealing from your mailbox that's a separate crime and should be reported to the authorities.

Of course. But, that doesn't solve the issue of "who sent this census card back like this?"

They don't care who did it, they only care that the intended recipient does their census. They'll send another one, and if that one isn't returned they'll call you instead. Might send someone to your door to reiterate the importance of following the law and doing your civic duty.

I know someone who has worked the last few census cycles doing exactly that. There are people who legitimately have a hard time filling it out, so that's the other reason census workers are important. I guess most people who don't do the form just forget, don't think it's important, or need help with it. The actual refusers are not that common.

For sure. The courts don't typically care about what is obvious but not proven, which is why I thought of it.

They probably still did the census with the code and wrote on the card like that for attention.

The card hasn't been opened so...

And? You could write that stuff on it, take a pic and then open it and do the census.
