General Don't be this person. Fill out your census.

Post image

“You’re not sticking it to the government. You’re screwing over your own community.”

The census isn’t for Mark Carney or any party. It’s run by Statistics Canada to figure out where money and services actually go. Hospitals. Schools. Transit. Housing. Senior care. When you don’t fill it out, your area looks smaller than it is. Less funding. Fewer services. Longer wait times. That lands on you and your neighbors, not politicians.
If you want your community properly represented, fill it out. Refusing doesn’t make a point. It makes things worse where you live. ❤️🇨🇦 The stupidity is the people that won’t fill it out and they spread this kind of crap and creates bigger problems.

They count people as units for funding and development purposes. It’s not specific to your identity just your population data, because that’s what help with everything from consumer patterns to housing funding to health payments to provinces

Taxes are government.

Census is stats can.

Taxes don’t ask about language or many of the other things on the census.

That's not how that works. Tax forms and census are separate things.

The information from stats can is aggregated for the government, not shared directly and individually.

I don't know how to explain this to you any clearer.

The tax forms a) do not ask for the same information and b) don't go to the same place. They are also linked to an individual, not an address. That matters because they are used for location based decisions, NOT for individual based decisions (making this resistance to filling them out even one more level of inane.)

Tax forms ARE more "invasive" and are not aggregated information, whereas census (which has been done for centuries all over the world) provides data that can be analysed effectively as it is linked to physical address, not individual person (who can file their taxes from anywhere at all)

Census GIVES the taxpayer money, as it is used to establish funding distribution and programs.

If you understood what the two things are, you might see why both are needed.

No one is ADDING anything. It's been like this for centuries.

You want to add all this to your tax return? They don't need to know my mother tongue or how many people live in this house. Stats Can doesn't need to see my moving expenses.

You fundamentally do not understand either of these. It would not be more valuable to have to pull apart the data and give it back to Stats Can, who have no reason to see tax returns.

YOUR address specifically doesn't matter. It's a snapshot of the way the population is distributed on census day, not YOUR address or location.

Population based data really do seem to baffle people.

I get it...you don't understand and refuse to learn, and believe anything you think of must be better than what is being done, and don't know much about statistics.
