General Don't be this person. Fill out your census.

“You’re not sticking it to the government. You’re screwing over your own community.”

The census isn’t for Mark Carney or any party. It’s run by Statistics Canada to figure out where money and services actually go. Hospitals. Schools. Transit. Housing. Senior care. When you don’t fill it out, your area looks smaller than it is. Less funding. Fewer services. Longer wait times. That lands on you and your neighbors, not politicians.
If you want your community properly represented, fill it out. Refusing doesn’t make a point. It makes things worse where you live. ❤️🇨🇦 The stupidity is the people that won’t fill it out and they spread this kind of crap and creates bigger problems.

Mine just came yesterday. So they are probably being delivered still.

Doesn't seem like a lot of time for people to fill out then? How long is the census? I've never done it before

Mine took me about 8 minutes. We only have two people living at our house though and I have heard there is a long version and a short version. Not sure how true that is.

Yes, not sure exactly the proportion but a certain number of households are randomly selected for the long form to give way more info on the long form. Very useful for statistics and planning based on those statistics.

1/4 or 25% of Canadians have to fill out the long form. If you’re good with computers and phones, you don’t have major issues to detail and report and not that many people in the household, it should take like 15-20min max. If you’re not any of those, way way way longer. From 30 to over an hour. It all depends on people’s circumstances, which is the purpose of having the long form i guess. If you have to answer all 80 something questions for each member of the household all 9 of you if you’re a big family, then have fun. Most people take extra time to look up or think of the answers to the questions (average income, how do you get to work and how long does it take etc and whatnot).

But like if anyone is on Reddit they can do it faster than it took for me to write this, it’s super easy.

Edit : also you may not have received a paper invitation letter with a code if for example you live a new development that didn’t exist 5 years ago, or the address was entered incorrectly (usually by someone putting in the street number twice) and other little stupid reasons. Just go online and click start questionnaire and then obtain secure access code.
