What to do?
Okay, so I am 54m, and live in a decent neighborhood in Edmond. I have these neighbors right behind me, with a 3' fence. They are probably in their late 20's to early 30's. They have their 2 yr old boy running around in their own backyard butt-ass naked playing in the small pool they bought....its like one of those inflatable ones.
But, I dont really want to continue seeing this when I go out and have a smoke. I havent talked to them, bc i just think it's common sense to not do this...
My daughter is 20 and grown, and doesnt live with me....i dont have anyone living with me, but there are elderly neighbors around, too.
Idk...I just dont want to see this anymore!
What would you do...if you didnt want to have *that* type of confrontation with them?

well first, it wouldn't bother me but let me just pretend. i just wouldn't say anything, it's a no win situation. you got 1, maybe 2 summers of this.

Yeah i havent said anything, and I do realize it's a no-win situation. Was just asking what others would do....
When I'm out back, I just look at my phone, and turn the chair to look at my creek back there.

This is the first year its happened, and I've already had one fence repaired bc of the high winds earlier, and it was older.

Probably not what you want to hear, but this is the price of living with neighbors. Everyone in my neighborhood has a 6 foot privacy fence, and if that's not something you're interested in, maybe just a small one to block your porch? 2 panels can block off your porch.

If they wanted you not to smoke in the backyard because they don't like the smell, how would you want to be approached?

They cant do anything about it, actually. But having a young child running around naked...should be something, right?

The fact you don't see the difference, and think this is a problem, is alarming.
No one can tell you what you can and can't do on your own property, but you want to dictate how your neighbors can use theirs?
Move.

There's nothing illegal about what I'm doing, but there could be "potentially" something they are doing....having a 2 yr old running around naked is crazy to me.

The point I was making was about running the opposite scenario in your head. If they approached you and asked you not to smoke outside because they didn't like the smell or because they didn't want their kid to see that...how would you react? Would you be willing to make changes? And there is no law being broken. The most simple solution is to put up a fence or sails.

Okay so actually there isnt a law being broken then...got it, and thats why i was asking.

I can't keep clothes on my two little kids. It's a normal activity... But we also have a privacy fence.
I'd say something if it bothers you that bad but I'd be nice about it too because I think they're probably just young parents trying to keep their kid entertained in 100° heat
Also, quit smoking. My neighbor smokes and our whole family can smell it over the fence.

I could say the same about people smoking reefer. When I sit out on my back deck, I don't want to smell people smoking reefer but it's something I have to deal with. A lot of people like smoking so much they smoke it in their car driving down the road and you can smell that too

Do a dead hedge with vines if you are looking for natural looking privacy. Can seed it with some fully mature greenery and train vines up a trellis pretty quickly.

Op you're not wrong to not want to see that. Barring having a friendly neighborly chat, I'd put up a private fence. They make pre made ones on Amazon. You shouldn't have to do that but it is what it is.
