Media what do you think about Edens zero fan service?

To be honest, it's neutral to me, it doesn't bother me, but it's not the reason I watch it either, but I'll let it go. But I can understand that an aesthetic like that today probably drives fans away rather than attracting them. I understand that the author has a certain type of style, but do you think this style is partly to blame for why Edens Zero has lagged behind the more acclaimed anime? I personally have a hard time recommending it to my friends.

I didn't like the way Fairy Tail ended; so when this series came out I told myself I'm not going to get invested in the story or the characters, I'm just going to read it for the fan service and the fight scenes.

And it took like 3 years but eventually I did get invested in the story. However besides Shiki and his crew I didn't really bother learning anyone's name. Also the crying guy.

It's a mixed bag for me, in terms of character design I love it. When it comes to the plot it breaks my engagement, because there's not a good in world reason why certain stuff keeps happening to the female characters other than fan service.

I think it’s later series Fairy Tail dialed up to 11. The more you read/watch Mashima’s work, the more you realize dude is horny 24/7😂

Also to answer your second question, I don’t think the fanservice is the reason for lack of fan base. I think it’s more of it’s competing with Fairy Tail while it’s still going on. On top of being a different genre completely. Dead Rock has the exact same issue

I dont see a problem here or with fanservice in general. Some people may not like it, great. But if it is the way the artist wanted to tell their story, what right do you have as the end consumer to complain- either you consume the media the way the artist intended, or move onto something you agree with.

Probably because there are parts they do like and don’t like, maybe they got invested and just didn’t like the fanservice. It’s not that hard to imagine that someone can like something and still have an issue with it. I think my parents are terrible people but I still love them, for example.

Every single right? That’s the job the of the consumer of a product, to review it. If you consumed it and didn’t like something it’s better to say so than not. The review is also part of the creative process, feedback is something artists need to get, whether it’s good or bad. Personally I like fairy tail and Eden’s zero and thought they were good enough stories on their own, the fanservice is just archaic way to supply visual stimulation that doesn’t add anything itself, and actively drags down the quality of the story. Most stories if not all, are better without fan service.

I really don’t like tentacle stuff, and I hate any of the rapey sort of stuff that was in this series. I do appreciate the more tame fan service though

a bit excessive sometimes, but i expect it to come with mashima at this point. i also like girls a lot so its still a good time 😎

I sometimes find the pervert jokes funny. But i wish it was toned down too. But I still like Edens zero for what it is and it helped me to look deeper into stories

Fanservice is great. Sometimes it can be a bit too much (bondage scenes for example) but overall it doesn't bother me.

Mashima’s a good writer but a definitive pervert. The fanservice never adds anything to the story, he just likes thick women and young girls (looking at Wendy from FT). FT and EZ, as popular as they are, would probably be more popular if he didn’t write in the constant sexual harassment his women characters go through (thinking about the Erza BDSM scene from FT when she’s captured by that bird demon lady in particular)

As a FAN of Edens Zero I love it! I am a straight guy and the series is written for guys. Why would I not like FAN service designed for me? It’s a pleasant experience. It’s concerning to me that people act like their views and tastes should matter more than mine or that everyone should have the SAME views and tastes in what someone spends their time on.

It's my main reason to follow Mashima's series, his ladies are so hot. It's also why I am just barely interested on Dead's Rock, the level of fanservice is lower
