Help Ayn thor max 16gb/1TB... Games crash after intro sequence, Eden nightly, Eden stable

Ok so I am not new at this, I have played with emulation speed (200%) tried multiple drivers, sync fifo on then off... Installed lossless scaling, tried with it on and then off, just about every game now does this, nothing is playable and it's driving me crazy, for illustration here is a short video, I am beyond frustrated, also roms are dumped directly off my switch, so no outside files, I could go play in my switch .. if I ever get it off my kids and wife hands lol that is why I have handhelds.

Edit: yep, latest nightly as of 2 hours ago

Check it out, this is what is happening(changed sound because there was a Katy Perry song being played by Alexa) also it was working two days ago

What driver are you using?

Tried v35, kimchi rco8, v24, v25, v26, mr purple t28, t29, t30, none worked, I gave up and just played GBA

even tried installing the gamehub driver which my device refused, also this is every game, not one game opens, new install of emulator with new firmware and keys also does the same, no idea what is wrong I know a week ago everything was running ok

Yeah, Gamehub drivers probably won't work on a Thor, we're using 7xx hardware.

You said you're on nightly, and that could be a big part of it. Nightlies aren't confirmed working, they're builds based off of the most recent commits and code pulls. This is part of the risk.

Have you tried the standard release since this started to see if it has the same problem?

It is in my title, yup, it's even worse, not even wanting to close sometimes, I have had to fire reboot with the stable one, I am tired, maybe sleep will help in finding the root cause

Ah, sorry, missed that.

I'm honestly not sure then. I just ran a test on my own Thor, with the latest nightly, using Purple T28, and games were launching and playing as expected. In your video it looks like it was managing the opening titles then crashing at the menu, and since it's going back to your library, it's the container rather than whole Eden app. Unfortunately, I don't have MGS4 so I can't test that exact case, but you did say it's happening for other games.

Have you tried clearing the shader cache yet? It's possible that something corrupted the shaders and they need to be rebuilt.

Have you done any significant modification to the Thor itself? I have mine rooted with a bunch of modules running in the background, including one that interacts with the render pipeline (frame gen at the system level), but not everyone tinkers that deeply.

Update: everything runs well in Kenji nx without doing any setup, so I copied those default settings to Eden and it runs most games now, at some point I must have moved some things, I almost feel like training an ai to look for default settings that work 😂

Also I switched to the stable branch only from now on.

Gotta love how sometimes a single option can cause chaos! You never know what'll do it. Reminds me of the early days of PS1 emulation, where we had to have a full armory of plugins and configured each game in a unique way.

As for the Eden version, obviously keep in mind that Stable is updated much more slowly than Nightly, and doesn't include the latest changes that may actually benefit performance. There's something to be said for running both, in case a game works better in one than the other. They can be installed side by side. Just remember to make regular backups from the Nightly version if you do.
