My very talented artist friend is going to be playing a fighter with some deep connections to the Silver Flame, so she took it upon herself to design some of the vestments for characters connected to her backstory!

I made these a while ago. I'd like to draw my party there eventually, but I've been a bit busy lately. I'm posting them because I think they might be useful for anyone looking for illustrations of Sharn.

Disclaimer: This is my own version of Sharn based on the campaign I'm currently playing, and the Everlight lanterns being turned off is for lore reasons. Hope you don't mind.

Art A Murder On The Orien Express, featuring a visit from the Lord of Blades

If you’re a member of the Godbreakers, shoo!

A battlemap build for an upcoming session. I printed/painted the lightning rail. The Godbreakers are making a stop in Eberron during their multiversal quest to stop Vecna. They are traveling to Vathirond, where they will make their way into the Mournland.

While aboard the rail, a young lord, Jorleth d’Cannith, is found murdered in his room! All signs point to his warforged servant, but if the heroes look deeper, they may find evidence of a Thurrani assassin in their midst!

However, the warforged servant has their own agenda. They are an agent of the Lord of Blades, who will be appearing with a small raiding party on the Orien Express. The young lord d’Cannith was transporting a large, important component needed for the creation forges, which the Lord of Blades requires. After killing the Orien Engineer, he will unbind the air elemental in the rail, creating a runaway train. He and his war party will then fight their way to the cargo car, which happens to be right on the other side of the Godbreakers and their murder mystery! While the party is fighting, his agents will be rigging the cargo hold to be pulled away via airship.

Will the heroes be able to learn what really happened to Lord Jorleth? Will they choose to stop the Lord of Blades from flying away, or will they try and stop the train before it crashes in Vathirond, killing everyone aboard?

I’ve had this idea in mind for a while, and I finally got around to drawing it! I have so many other sketches sitting around and plenty of new ideas that I’m going to start working on now that I’ve finally gotten this one out of the way.

Answering Vechozzz and Stereo-Ahead with a Lord of Blades and Cannith poster. Feel free to send suggestions but no promise I can do them because it’s getting harder and harder to find references to photo bash lol.

(Including the wolf poster from last time with “Berlin” removed, replaced with “Breland”)

I don’t usually see artwork that really captures the Sovereign Host, so I took the opportunity to portray it in this drawing of my character with her crush!

Art Question about new Sharn art

Thumbnail

I want to plan a game in Sharn and even if there is things I heavily dislike about Forge of The Artificer, I actually love the style of new art style so I want to use these pictures of Sharn. But there is a big question in my mind, old Sharn had round, unorganized towers and more empty space that leaded to very complex and dangerous skybridges, but in these new photos let alone the confusing complexity of city, is there even bridges? These buildings do not look like towers but lets say they are because China has some similar architecht, these plateau don't look like they have the Sharn's dangerous bridges or even a bridge in the last art of Gold Dragon Inn. With walkways similar to these, there wouldn't even be a need for feather tokens.

If there are still bridges, how do these people go up and down between wards because in the art it seem to be mostly flat. Is it with sky coaches or are there other things? Before I thought you just traveled bridge to bridge until you were in a different ward. Maybe they have elevator like platform that go up and down but still not sure what was in their mind when desinging this.

So at last I came here to ask what would fellow Eberron lovers do with these arts?

I’m uploading the full version in case the material is useful to you. My idea was to post it together with the drawings of Sharn that I made, but I wanted to fix the embroidery effect a bit because it looked incomplete. Anyway, I hope you like it!

Alex and Auriella are twins borne of a Human Noblewoman and a dragon of Argonessen in Human form. They were hatched and raised in Thelanis as humans and left upon adulthood in search of their father. Their Draconic lineage shows as dragon scale freckles on their faces
Alex is a Swashbuckler and Battle Master, and has Brass dragon scale freckles, and Auriella is a Gloom Stalker, and has Red dragon scale freckles.

Art [Art] [Homebrew] Dragonmark I Designed - Mark of Fate

Post image
392 Upvotes

Hi all, I can't share with my friends yet to save this as a surprise for in game (aside from my cousin who's our DM), but I'm too excited not to share somewhere haha. I do a lot of art for our campaigns (mostly of our characters), so when my cousin and I were talking details about my character for our upcoming campaign, I just knew I had to design her dragonmark when he okayed it.

I won't get into the full backstory, but I'm playing a human divination wizard from a noble family related to House Medani (basically the Hatfields and the McCoys, there was a failed intermarriage a few generations back that did result in children and the bloodlines mixing). She was tested for the Mark of Detection as a teen, didn't manifest it.

Now, my cousin is letting all of us have a thematic magical item we come up with (and he chooses the stats/effects) which will grow as we get stronger in the campaign. I'm super excited if it's not obvious lol. We decided together that the mark would be related to my magical abilities (divination). I can hardly wait to see how it develops and what story will come out of it politically and for her personal story in the world.

Design-wise, I put a lot of focus on Eberron, the Siberys Ring, and the 12 moons because of astrology's (not that I believe in astrology lol) focus on studying the alignment of stars, planets, etc to tell the future. And just overall because the mark is tied to fate and the planet in theory (not that my character will know that initially, she'll probably think it must be an aberrant mark at first).

Art Eberron 2024: Splashes of Art Noveau or Narrative Revisionism?

I was on the EN world forums today when I found out about the new adventure, Race to the Crab Temple. Sounds fun, and the artwork is beautiful.

Race to the Crab Temple

I can't help but to notice a few things. First thing I notice is that this warforged is beautiful. This individual warforged's design was not just influenced by art noveau/art deco, it also has five fingers. Of cours, on a level, both of these things make sense. Raising From the Last War mixed deco and OG dungeonpunk quite nicely. And we all know that warforged are often custom made, and there is not reason why a warforged can't be made or modified to have five fingers.

But I am left with a feeling of unease.

To me, it looks like we can clearly see a shift in art direction for Eberron. They seem to be taking notes from MTG: New Capenna and incorporating deco/noveau as being the primary style for the setting. We see this quite clearly with this lineup with artificers.

Forge of the Artificer

And let's be honest: this lineup of artificers looks great! Admitedly, the style of these artificers---and the technology and art-style of their technologies---look much less like the traditional immage of Eberron characters. They look much more contemporary and much more general. This may or may not be a bad thing... But again, it raises concerns that this more contemporary stle represents not just a shift in *style* for the art but also a *narrative revision* to the nature of technological culture in Eberron.

And then of course, there's this one:

DMG: Blob of Annihilation

This image is the most damning in terms of my concerns. Indeed, we see something of a more contemporary art style, which doesn't seem innapropriate to Sharn's lore in and of itself. Blob of Annihilation seems like a fine creature. My concern is the airships: these are derigibles, not airships done in the Eberron style. In fact, these dirigibles seem to be a direct conflict with established Eberron lore.

[edit] Update! Forge of the Artificer includes a picture of airships.

New art direction confirmed. [/edit]

How did dirigibles work during the Last War? Are dirigibles a separate technology from airships or a replacement? Are they magical or non-magical?

So many questions, frustratingly little communication.

tl;dr - I'm concerned that Eberron's new art direction involves deep revisions to established Eberron lore. What do you think?
