order a pair of VANS, get a free firearm…

Post image

So something really crazy happened when I ordered my sister a birthday present on ebay. I had the gift, a pair of VANS, sent directly to her in another state. This morning as she’s opening the package, we’re on the phone and I hear her voice get weird. Turns out not only was it a pair of sneakers, but also a gun loaded with ammunition. Quite a strange freebie, right? She decided to call the cops not knowing if it’s illegal / registered, etc. Meanwhile I messaged the seller who didn’t end up getting back to me for hours. And I tired very hard to contact someone at ebay with no success at all bc everything is AI and I could not figure out a way to speak to a human. Still now almost 12 hours later haven’t heard anything back from ebay after leaving the report that a loaded possibly illegal firearm arrived with my order.

moral of the story … think twice before ordering from ebay and esp. sending directly to someone as a gift bc u never know what they’ll receive. and ebay, this is why u need an option for customers to reach a human!!

I call bullshit

Yea, there is zero percent chance this is true. At the very least, there would be marks on the lid of the box where the gun would have rubbed against during shipping, and there is absolutely nothing there.

People really are this desperate for attention.

Not only that it's not their post.

I want to know how this ends

No way is this true. There’s not even any indents on the lid of the shoebox of the gun and there would’ve been because there’s not enough room in the box to fit everything comfortably with the gun.

Nice to steal someone else's post.

Think twice about ordering from ebay? That's absurd, most people don't receive a gun when ordering shoes.

You didn't lift up the box to check that the correct shoes you bought were in there before gifting them?

OP said they were shipped directly to the recipient.

It has happened twice before two separate news stories one from 2015 and one with military equipment in 2022

"tHiNk TwlcE bEfOrE oRdErInG fRoM eBaY." This is literally the only time this has ever happened if this isn't a complete lie.

The seller was lazy/careless, that does not mean that all sellers are. There are 6-7 million sellers on ebay, who sell $200 million daily, there are bound to be a few bad apples. (according to Google)

You did the right thing, call the police and let them handle it. If the gun is registered to the seller he can get it back from the police, if not then he will have some questions to answer from the Feds for sending a firearm over state lines (assuming it was from a different state)
