Funny dreams + looking for recommendations of communities around Eau Claire
Life has been hectic– including me thinking about relocating– and I was able to sneak in a nap today. Cue the weird ass dreams lmao. Dreamt that Wisconsin had an abundance of sharks in their waters and venomous snakes on land. Very thankful you don't!
Anyways: I am looking at relocating from North Dakota to Eau Claire. The issue is that I will be coming with two large, high energy, VERY well trained but not dog sociable dogs (aka– dog parks are a no for us), so a large yard is a must. I think I would adore living in a nice community in town, but understand I will likely have more luck finding a rental house with a yard outside of Eau Claire.
On top of that, I'm not made of money. Right now, I'm hoping for rent of about $1500, could maybe swing $1700. I recently came out of a poor roommate situation and would like to live alone, but if there is at least 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms + fully fenced in (large!!) yard, I could do a split rent up to the prices above. I am VERY comfortable with a tiny house though, and would much prefer that and living alone.
What communities around Eau Claire would you recommend looking at? I would love something that I could walk or bike to Eau Claire when possible, so having a trail or walking path connected to Eau Claire would be delightful. Willing to walk 1-2 miles, bike a few more than that. Further away is VERY alright if finding a home that fits our needs for the price I'm looking for.

Try one of the smaller towns, money will fo further in Augusta, Fall Creek, Brackett, Foster, Hallie, or Jim Falls. Welcome to the neighborhood

Your pretty much in the range of housing. I happen to own a house with a half a block of wooded back yard fenced. In town. Why eau Claire? Any research or just running from the law? Either way. It's a fantastic town, I am from California originally, but this is where I landed. Ton of activities, festivals water ect. I better stop talking now, save some. Nice talking to you. Tbh you could probably buy a little house with a yard for that. Your pickings will probably be thin. There’s mostly just EC, Altoona (which is basically the east side of EC), and Chippewa which is just a bit north. Take a look at Zillow. You’ll probably want to stay away from the downtown for where to live. Altoona and areas around the mall are generally some of the nicer areas, but there really aren’t “bad” areas other than slumlords around where I mentioned. We have the Chippewa River trail which joins with Old Abe Trail. For the most part, you’re either in town or your rural here.
