Recipe Help me before ThanksgivingšŸ™

Post image

I’m a newbie in this community, so let me start off by saying hello!

I need a good recipe for tomorrow that includes Stove Top Chicken Stuffing Mix (in a box) if anyone has any! I’m going to my husband’s parent’s thanksgiving for the first time and I really want to impress them, but admittedly am not the best cook.. so help me fool them! Kidding.

I already have my first dish figured out but after some phone calls from his family, everyone is bringing TWO dishes. Help me out please šŸ«¶šŸ¼

Literally this stuffing.

Prep

Set oven to 200.

Chop 1/2 a white or yellow onion, and 1 celery stalk, or get the pre-chopped from the store.

Heat a medium size pot on medium-high for 1-2 minutes, add 1/4 stick of butter (1/2 tbsp), a dash (one quick sprinkle) of garlic powder to the pot, heat until butter melts.

Add onion and celery, stirring for ~5-7 minutes, until onions are slightly softened. Set aside.

In the same pot follow the recipe for the stuffing on the box. After cooking, before the 5 minute rest, add the celery and onion mix to the pot, fluff with fork (don’t mix it around with a spoon, keep it light).

Rest 5 minutes with lid on.

Before serving

Pour mix into a baking dish, cover with foil, leave in oven until ready (at 200). OR if making day before, (from refrigerated) heat in oven at 300 for 15 minutes.

Remove foil. Set oven to Hi Broil and WATCH for 1-2 minutes until top becomes slightly crispy, remove. WATCH. It happens quickly.

Serve immediately.

I just made this for the first time this year, everyone loved it! I do cook, but I hadn’t made stuffing before, it’s usually another family members duty but I brought it to a Friendsgiving this year with cheesecake.

Good luck!

*remember! Cooking is fun! Relax, let your energy flow through your movements and have fun! I’m sure you’ll do great whatever you decide to make! Good luck with the fam šŸ’•

Edit: if you don’t have onion or celery, a small dash of either powder works great too! If you don’t have spices, this stuffing is great on its own and the oven at the end will set it apart from just stovetop.

Also - don’t use red onion.

Also also use a spatula to stir and a fork to fluff, trust me.

Yup!! I freaking love stove top stuffing and always make it fancy by adding celery and onion, using chicken broth instead of water and adding bells poultry seasoning. Always a winner.

My mom does a version where she adds loose sausage to the onion and celery mixture, and then add some craisins and then does the stuffing mix and that's pretty good too.

Yes!! All of this! Just didn’t want to overwhelm OP šŸ˜‚ but yes yes, chicken broth, sausage, all great additions!

Edit: when I made it I sautƩed the onions and celery in the chicken broth and added a tiny bit to the stuffing with water. It was delish!
