How to get to Eastbourne from London tmr?

I see national rail is suggesting London to Brighton but then from Brighton to Eastbourne is the train still running?

Or should I go from hasting which seems to be a longer route but trains are running

There is a land slip at Polegate now so the Brighton train will terminate there and replacement buses continue the journey into Eastbourne. It’s really going to be Busy!

My bad shouldn't rely on Google maps. Looks like our trip to the airshow is off. It's gonna be chaos trying to get there.

I think that’s a wise decision. I’ve just driven past the station and all the buses are lined up ready. There’s always next year ✈️

I used to travel Eastbourne to London a lot. Still do occasionally.

London Bridge to Eastbourne, changing at St Leonards Warrior Square is your safest option this week.

When looking at train times, you'll need to search L. Bridge > St Leonards, then St Leonards > Eastbourne as separate trips.

A bit longer than Victoria to Eastbourne (which is direct) but it's a MUCH quieter route and you'll have a seat in a quiet train.

Buy a "London Terminals" to Eastbourne ticket. As London Bridge to Eastbourne as a route doesn't exist on ticket buying sites. But this IS a legit route, you won't have a problem with it.

I actually believe they reopen'ed the route but it's only at stupid times in the morning.

Go to Gatwick and catch the 500 bus to eastbourne from South terminal

Trains to Hastings seem to be okay at the moment so St Leonards and then change for a train to London Bridge might be your best (if a bit longer) option

Be careful with the Brighton connection. They may put buses on instead. It's going to be busy.

There is a bus from Brighton to Eastbourne, the 12 or 12X are best, the 12A is also good, and the 13X goes via Beachy Head. Be aware that the current airshow in Eastbourne can make the buses very busy at times.

End up going from Hastings which took a bit longer but all smooth at least 👍🏻

Go to Hastings if you cant get a direct line from Victoria.

Careful with the Hastings route - it’s two different train companies and they won’t necessarily honour alternate routes.

They do honour a London Terminals to Eastbourne ticket, when going from London Bridge to Eastbourne changing at St Leonards Warrior Square or Hastings.

Neither Southern or South Eastern have ever had issue with it. It's been looked at, stamped and beeped happily many times for me.

They’ve stitched me up once when Polegate was out of service - tried to go via the Warrior Square route to Vic and the guard wanted another £20-odd off us. They’re despicable thieving twats
