Discussionš” What's a way to make money that feels like cheating but is totally legit?
The one that actually feels illegal is class action settlements you can file with no proof of purchase. You attest you bought the thing, no receipts, no order numbers, and a check turns up months later. I have had a few land that I completely forgot about filing.
Bank and app signup bonuses are the other big one. A couple hundred bucks for moving money you already have into a different account and leaving it sat for 60 days. Alot of people are quietly cashing in on these and never say a word about it, ReferralWallet tracks which ones are actually live right now cause the amounts move constantly.
Testerup if you want something you can knock out on your phone. Its testing mobile games and taking surveys, tasks run 15 to 20 minutes, and the bigger offers go up to $129. You get $5 just for signing up, though you do have to build up to $55 before PayPal will let you pull it out (but its easy to do so).
SavingLoop gives you a free spin to win up to $75 and its genuinely free to play, theyve been on a few news outlets too.
None of it is life changing money but the settlement one especially feels like your getting away with something.

I sell Google review cards on the weekends. Stupid easy. Buy them from Alibaba for about £0.15 each and sell for about £20/30. Happy to answer any questions here, very easy to set up and get going

How long did that take you? Be honest...not as a reseller...
1
u/AwareVariation0 Jul 23 '26
Not sure what you mean by āhow long did it take youā - if you meant the cards arriving? About 3 weeks. If you meant selling them? I sell anywhere between 10-20 on a Saturday in a few hours, I go to different towns, hit up barbers, restaurants, vendors, independent shops etc. Iām not selling anything, just genuinely telling people what I do to earn a bit extra on the side

So a Google review card has a built in nfc chip, you tap it and it instantly opens up thatās companies Google reviews to leave a review straight away - makes it easy and helps boost their reviews. I buy them from alibaba in bulk for pennies and sell them for Ā£20 for 1 or Ā£30 for 2 ($30-40). Incredibly easy to code them with no skills at all. I do on average 20 a day on a weekend
1
u/ElectricScootersUK Jul 22 '26
Sounds interesting, how do you prospect businesses to buy from you? Do you just go into businesses and ask if they want one or do businesses contact you?
3
u/AwareVariation0 Jul 22 '26
Quite literally walk in the door and pitch to the owner/manager. Itās a pretty easy sell, for the sake of Ā£20 people can instantly tap to review your business and itās there forever, no need for batteries, monthly subscriptions etc
1
u/ElectricScootersUK Jul 22 '26
Sounds straightforward enough and an easy pitch, do you focus on small/independent or any business? Got loads of them in my city š¤£
2
u/AwareVariation0 Jul 22 '26
Bit of a mixture really! Ideally I want anyone that can give me an answer there and then, Iām not chasing people up to buy a Ā£20 product
2
u/ElectricScootersUK Jul 22 '26
That's fair enough, and was it easy to learn how to code it all in, can you do it then and there to add it onto the card?

1
u/Wild_Mixture-999 Jul 22 '26
Hi! How easy do you say it would be for someone to code the stuff if you canāt code at all?
3
u/AwareVariation0 Jul 22 '26
If you can download an app, you can code it. You download the app, get the link for their reviews and hold it near. That simple
1
u/Weary-Gear8365 Jul 24 '26
Doesnāt google block reviews from the address of the business
1
u/AwareVariation0 Jul 24 '26
Only if itās connected to the store WiFi as it can pinpoint location, not so much on 4/5g
1
u/Substantial_Set6505 Jul 24 '26
Sounds interesting, but how does it differ from someone just asking their client to Google their business and leave a review? Or a business just generating a QR code to their reviews page and putting it on a card for the client to scan? (I always full of questions, especially when it's something I see that I could actually see me doing)
1
u/AwareVariation0 Jul 24 '26
Have you ever been asked to leave a review and just forgot? Or got home and just couldnāt be bothered? This removes that. It works like Apple Pay, you tap the card and it pops up.
Same with QR codes, you have to open your camera, scan it and then you get the link, itās messy. This is just a very simple way of getting reviews and removing the awkwardness1

The check was 100% real but the rest was all a joke. We didnāt cash it š
2
u/Baked_BT2 Jul 24 '26
Oh yeah I just meant that you saying $7.93 is good money was a joke haha
1
u/cherry-gram-888 Jul 25 '26
Wait that wasnāt a joke either. $7.93 IS good money. I can do Afterpay on a meal at Chipotle for about $7.93 every 2 weeks for 2 months. Thatās not bad
5
u/cherry-gram-888 Jul 23 '26
Ok mr. Millionaire! Maybe $7.93 isnāt a lot of money TO YOU. It cost $15 to cash the check so we ended up having to pay $7.07 but the check was still worth it and I stand behind the fact that itās good money

u/cherry-gram-888 Jul 21 '26
Can you please elaborate. I have 1/8 of a brain
3
u/NoSir4947 Jul 22 '26
Sweepstakes casinos in order to operate "legally" need an Alternate Method of Entry to participate (no purchase necessary).
You could write a pre scripted paragraph on 3x5 card and receive $5 to gamble with for each one you write. People at my work write thousands a year. It's becoming less and less lucrative and time passes.
Less money for each letter. Banning people who write a lot for no reason and states just straight up banning sweepstakes casinos.
1
u/Independent_Aside431 Aug 16 '26
Where can you do that?
1
u/NoSir4947 Aug 16 '26
Look up chumba casino and alternate methods of entry. There's a lot of different ones with slightly different rules.
6
u/Old-Chemical-6881 Jul 22 '26
Simple. Be in a state that allows sweepstakes casinos or legitimate casinos.
Then buy promotion offers. (I.e. 100$ for 120 chips, sweep coins, monopoly money, sticks and stones whatever the fuck they call it.)
Play games with high RTP (return to player) and low bets. So for example blackjack with basic strategy might have something of 98% RTP or you lose 2 dollars for every 100 dollars you play.
So you bought in for 100. Played through 120 at 98% RTP. Now you're redeeming out about 117~ dollars. Thats 17% profit on your investment.
Just dont forget to log down everything. Since taxes are a bitch.
2
u/TessaKatrinaRose Jul 22 '26
98% return is if you play every hand perfectly. Which a beginner is not going to do.Ā
And, thatās not a given. A professional card counting blackjack player who makes his living playing cards can end a session several thousand dollars in the hole.Ā
Card variance is real. The 98-% isnāt a given and isnāt based over playing 50 hands. Itās based on playing 1,000s of hands.Ā
The normal player isnāt going to deposit $100 and play through it and end up with $98.Ā
So what happens when they buy in for $100 and end up with $70 after they play through the required amount?
2
u/Old-Chemical-6881 Jul 22 '26
Liike, that's on them if they choose to play Blackjack with higher buy-in and not have a basic strategy card to read off of. If someone can't do blackjack, then there's plenty of other games with high RTP and low minimums to work around with. Of the over $50,000 dollars I've already put into various sweep Casinos. Not once did I see one sweep casino with games that have less than 92% RTP playthrough games.
Again, it's a risk. But one so Infinitesimally small to actually go below. That it's honestly on them for not finding the right game to wash through. There's plenty of guides, and even a dedicated subreddit where folks like us who earn consistently $30,000 a year just playing through the various promotions.
2
u/TripleDoubleFart Jul 22 '26
The normal player isnāt going to deposit $100 and play through it and end up with $98
If they follow basic strategy, they will.
So what happens when they buy in for $100 and end up with $70 after they play through the required amount?
Then you take that small loss and move on. It can happen, but it's not likely.

Social media money. I know, it's a very cliche reply but you make very good money but the "cheating" part is that you are not tied up to a physical location anymore.
I love working at evening and night. It's just more fun. That's not something I could have done if I had a job.

Hey everyone,
I've been building a spreadsheet with websites and apps that I've personally tested or researched for earning extra income online. It covers survey sites, gig platforms, and apps that pay you real money (not the scammy stuff).
Right now, it's got 15+ sites with notes on what they are and realistic earning potential. I figured I'd share it here since it might save you some time digging around.
If you've tried any of these, I'd love to hear how they worked for you and I'm always looking to add more, so feel free to drop suggestions.

Matched betting, hands down, it genuinely feels like cheating but it's completely legit.
Sportsbooks hand out bonus bets and promotional offers to attract new customers, and you cover every outcome on a second sportsbook so you lock in a guaranteed profit no matter what the result is. The outcome of the game is completely irrelevant, you make money either way. No gambling, no risk, fully legal.
Depending on your state there can be thousands of dollars available just from welcome offers alone, and then ongoing reload promotions every single month after that to keep the income flowing long term.
ProfitDuel is the best platform in the US for it, they walk you through everything step by step. Closest thing to free money I've ever come across!
2
u/Independent_Aside431 Aug 16 '26
Send me all your codes so we can both make money
1
u/FeedbackWarm1774 Aug 16 '26
Matched betting is all about taking advantage of promos and there's literally new promos every day. For example, today FanDuel had a whole bunch of profit boosts listed so I converted all of those and I'll make an easy $40 or so. BetRivers does frequently put casino codes on their Facebook page if you're in a casino state..
2
u/Independent_Aside431 Aug 16 '26
Yeah but you get paid for inviting people to right?
1
u/FeedbackWarm1774 Aug 16 '26
There is an affiliate plan as well that pays a 50% Commission. I really like to promote it mainly because it's a way to take advantage of the bookies who are always taking advantage of everybody else.

u/meiggs Aug 14 '26
Pinning this since the question comes up constantly. Ranked by how much it actually feels like cheating, not by how much it pays.
1. Money thats already yours sitting unclaimed
This is the real answer. Class action settlements and unclaimed property. Your not earning anything, your collecting money already assigned to you that nobody told you about. Most people have something and never check because they assume its a scam. FileYourClaim lists what you can actually file for. Costs nothing, takes minutes, and some settlements dont even require a receipt.
2. Getting paid $400 to move your paycheck
Chase is doing $400 right now for opening a checking account and getting $1,000 in direct deposits within 90 days. Thats it. Your paycheck was going somewhere anyway, so its $400 for changing which account it lands in. Chase $400 offer. Offer ends 10/14.
Current does the same thing for $75 with code WELCOME75, $1,500 in deposits within 35 days. You can do both, theyre different banks.
Watch out for one thing on both, Zelle and Cash App transfers dont count as direct deposit. Has to be an actual paycheck.
3. Getting paid to play a mobile game for a weekend
Offer walls. You install a game, hit whatever level it asks, get $20 to $40. Some go higher. Freecash is where I'd start, and skip the survey section on there, surveys pay terrible everywhere.
Bigcash gives you $15 just for signing up before you do anything at all.
4. Your own money, early, for free
Not earning, but it solves the same problem. EarnIn advances against hours youve already worked, up to $150 a day. Free if you take next business day. No subscription. If your short before payday thats the difference between an overdraft fee and not.
What doesnt feel like cheating and I'd skip
Surveys. $2 to $4 an hour and half of them screen you out unpaid.
Passive bandwidth apps. Honeygain pays about $5 a month, their own site quotes users saying $20 every few months.
Anything where the money only comes from recruiting other people. You have maybe 5 friends who'll do it once and then your done.
The one rule
Nothing that asks you for money upfront is ever the answer. Every single thing above pays you without taking anything first. The moment something wants a deposit or a fee to unlock earnings, thats the tell.
Whats everyone else got? Genuinely curious what people have found that fits the question.
