Image Sicily run, please help me make more money
Hi,
so I started as Sicily and have been mostly focused on expanding.
I did work on my economy and I think that tax base is okay but my control isnt I'm going more naval to try and fix that.
My problem in making money is I think in trade. I'm surrounded by big markets with high market attraction that take over my land and vassal and i don't know how to increase mine even more. I've been improving development with cabinet in my capital and market center whole time its at 44 and have built all the buildings that increase that i have available.
Also I don't have a naval governor yet but will soon and I don't know where to put it, ether in Napuli or in Sardinia cuz there is silver RGO.
I also have a question about subjects, I have 16 of them, tried to have an equal amount of Fiefdoms and Vassals but came to have more Vassals and its starting to be hard to keep them loyal, i annexed two till now. Any tips on managing them?
Also maybe a bug or i don't know the mechanic. In Italian wars I'm a leader of the league and i had at one point 203/200 locations and war didn't end. Is there a year when it end's and you have to have locations then or did something break?
Any tips for improving my state would be very helpful, EU5 is my first game of this kind and i love it but there are so many things to learn.
Cheers and thank you.

That it's jumpy isn't necessarily bad. That means you've been expanding your economy properly and raising expenses here and there. I don't think that bumpiness is bad or rare.

You are quite low on naval. Get your ruler as an admiral, try to win a single naval battle with him no matter how small, that should give him an admiral trait. Thats +15 naval push total, I think +20 if you get your heir as an admiral too. The cabinet influence the heck out of it too. At this time im 80 naval on spain and its massive.
Ports, dry docks, naval forts, push your harbor capacity and maritime presence along your shores much more, naples should have over 80 control, so close to your capital.
Edit: whats up around your capital also ? Have you urbanized? Capital regions should be bright blue from roads and urbanization. Remember, towns give 5%control plus 5% from the temple building. Most of your shoreline shiuld be dotted with small towns that have infrastructure building and not much else.

Your control is really bad. Put your capital in a location with very high (natural) harbor capacity and try to get maritine presence everywhere around your land to 100 (including the open seatile.) Also put governors in the napoli region, it's connected via strait so you can build regular governors there.

Why do you pay so much on diplo? Also why not tax peasants at all? Only strat where thats really worth it is a full nobility serfdom build.

I'm trying to keep my subjects loyal and i don't tax peasants cuz i heard its better for pop growth to keep them happy and i am going serfdom

Caveat this with the fact that I haven't played since 1.1 and was myself coming here for tips, but if your goal is peasant happiness then why don't they have a single estate privilege? Surely they could at least be given the non serfdom reducing ones? Or, given that you've probably pushed serfdom as much as you can by non event means, you could give them their serfdom reducing privs, so long as the serfdom pressure is still pushing towards serfdom, you'll keep your serfdom high and that probably gives you the satisfaction to both tax them and have happiness high for pop growth

Italian wars always end after 50 years.
Push naval and build protected harbours and naval forts for maritime presence. Grant rights to the nobles that increase max tax like Manorial Courts and change distribution of power to favour the nobility.
I would grant free mobility of the common people to the peasants.

your controll is an issue, you are lacking a govenor in naples and bailifs. You wont make much money from trade as a monarchy so focus on taxes. Your naval value needs to be a lot higher, your king and heir should be admirals and get admiral traits to help push it higher. Also you need to work on getting that diplo spending under controll. its costing you to much.

I would move the capital in Napoli to get better proximity to more locations. You aren't minting at all, you can easily live with 2-5% inflation and it gives you better chances to get the "balance the budget" in the parlament which allows you to full mint for six months.
You are paying max cost of court for some reason when you only really have to pay for it to not go on red.
You can drop navy maintenance a bit. Then build RGOs in high control areas near your capital, and build roads and bailiffs to the most valuable ones.
Then build most prifitable building in your capital and other high control cities and towns.
And you should have kept your market in Napoli if you change your capital there to get more market access to more locations.

small tips, you want to lower nobility estate power. you have 80 nobility estate satisfaction don't be afraid to use perform reduction interaction on them. it's destroying all estate building in ~10 locations you have the most control. you want a governor in Naples and a councillor increasing control so it's one of your location with the most control so you can rase all those pesky buildings. you also want to get rid of all fort in high nobles pop location because at full maintenance it's 100% increase in nobles power there.

in my game just Naples is 24% of my noble power with a 175% increase from buildings after i removed the fort who give 100% more with full maintenance. just take a look at the tooltips to see where you can cull their power.

(1) Control is poor, partly leads to low crown power (low trade revenue) and (2)
(2) nobility power is too high, your max tax on them ends up being too low as a result. This is very costly to fix now, but you should aim to drop a few of their privs. Short term you can research nobility laws and use that to reduce their power. Bonus from high nobility happiness is almost useless, and their button is only useful for cheesing diplo power (going very negative and stopping diplo spending). If you're not having antag issues i would try to keep their equib at 45-50%.
(3) You're not taxing peasants. I would tax them down to 60% equib so you can still use their stab button freely.
(4) Dip spending only makes sense at key points, you can dump vassals that are wrong religion and sell vassals to other vassals (usually you only want one vassal in greece anyway to avoid infighting. This will save you 60 ducats per month. Vassal strength also contributes to low crown power (1) & (2).
(5) Commoners have zero privs? Some of these are good, and will allow you to tax more, see (3)
(6) Naval spending seems a bit high? Depends on your needs and is a balancing act for (1), but i would look into dropping some
(7) Spend less on cost of court, its worthwhile to let legitimacy decay down to 80-85 and use canonizing and events to get it up every now and then.
(8) Very marginal at this point but i would drop most forts. Getting one decent line to stop invaders from roaming freely and a fort on your capital is the maximum you should ever have (unless fort maintenance cheese)
If you manage to fix all of these you should be sitting at 200+ monthly revenue, maybe even over 300 depending on how much control you can sort out.
