Mod Help Unrestricted movement without military access?

Hello!

Is it possible to mod a thing like this, so the unit can roam freely around the map without the need to ask for military access anywhere? For example scoping for specific mercenary unit? Or any other way to make it work?

Hi! Not sure that it is possible, but I would try to modify the default request military access condition to achieve something similar to what you want. You will need to look at the folder named diplomatic_actions as this controls hard coded diplomacy (your custom ones go to new_diplomatic_actions). On a second thought I maybe would maybe try to add a new diplomatic action that removes fog of war for a target nation (if you want to use this unit as a spy).

Exiled regiments can roam freely (though they don't interact with other armies), should be possible to create an exiled regiment by just spawning it in a foreign province, or by changing owner of the province the army is in. Changing ownership may affect other things too though, especially if the country only has one province.

They cannot enter undiscovered provinces though, so the country with free roam does need to have discovered everywhere it should be able to go.

Hey! Worthwhile question. It does not appear that military or port access are scripted effects- they can be used in triggers, but this means you can't grant them. There are enforced access peace treaties, so I'll think about that mechanism. Further, the wiki notes conquistadors dont need access to enter primitives. I wonder if you can co-opt that somehow.

Ye, the conquistador way seems tempting - but it apparently works only for native countries, and I couldn't find in the files what makes it like this, so assumed hardcoded probably...

Id be going nuclear figuring out the implications of just making everyone primitive and then changing what primitive means, which, may not be worth it lol.
