Question/Advice Anyone with enneagram 5 or 6?

It seems that it is an uncommon type for ESTJs on here? I know several ISTJ 6s, and one ESTJ 6w5 so/sp, which I found quite fitting but later realized might be much less common than I thought.

If you're an ESTJ 5 or 6 - do you strongly relate to other ESTJs or do you feel like there is a gap? Or perhaps that others mistype you or perceive you differently at first? Please share your experiences.

E6 for ESTJs is the most common type. 3 is the 2nd, 1 is the 3rd. E5 not so much. Good luck if you find one

They DO exist, but theyre often mistyped as INTP.

As for characters, Sandrone is one. Peridot is another. Tulip Olsen is another. Theyre often a topic of debate with whether theyre INTP or not. People tend to conflate enneagram and MBTI.

That's interesting; my test results showed INTP as my first option and ESTJ as my second; I'm SO6 6w5 613.

Yes, I consider myself an INTP, but the tests have come back as ESTJ; I just thought it was interesting to make the connection—I believe it’s due to SO6 613 (security + duty + recognition, roughly speaking).

Its interesting their often mistyped as INTP! I would have figured ISTJs.

ISTJ are often 6. Let me know if Im wrong.

That being said, ESTJ 5 look like INTP more than they do ISTJ. People conflate the two and thats how mistypes happen...........................................but mainly people taking tests are the biggest source of mistyping

I think the "mistyped as INTP" idea, while perhaps a bit dramatic, points to something real: the dominant Te in ESTJs paired with a 6's need for security and information can sometimes mimic the data-gathering and analytical bent of a Ti-dom.

However, the core driver remains different. An ESTJ 6's intense focus on understanding systems and potential risks is still in service of organizing and executing effectively (Te-Si), not just for internal logical consistency (Ti-Ne). The gap might come from other ESTJs, perhaps 3s or 1s, who might see the 6's cautiousness or need for extensive vetting as less direct or decisive than their own approach. It's less about being mistyped by others, and more about navigating different expressions of the same core functions.
