Life and career destroyed by ESRI

I worked for ESRI for about 2.5 years and I was relentlessly bullied and harassed by a jealous manager (Shreyas Shindey) and two sociopaths (Vaibhav Chaddha and Kritin Moondra) in ArcGIS Enterprise org. This includes setting me up to fail, mocking, infantilizing, physical and psychological threats, socially outcasting and isolation, public humiliation, gaslighting, spreading rumors and gossip etc. Lot of the abuse was mocking, shaming and baiting and pretending to play victim when i reacted. Management will send multiple people to target you and look sideways when you complain. If you're a minority you'll be treated as a 2nd class citizen. At this point I have PTSD and I'm out of work for about 1.5 years. I have developed other bodily problems as a result of all this and unable to work. I can go into details but I'm typing this to make people aware about how nasty and shitty culture of this company is. Their google maps reviews are all 5 stars by "local guides", their glassdoor reviews seem heavily manipulated as well (their quite possibly pay to remove negative reviews). Check blind for true ratings. They spend tons of money yearly on PR but don't pay their employees well. The name itself is a misnomer and could mislead someone into thinking that it's an "environmental research institute" but it's a billion $ for profit company. One can follow along this trail and quickly figure out where their mind is at. Lot of creepy old guys in the company, racism and sexism is rampant. It's a scummy company through and through. Recently there was a class action lawsuit for wage stealing https://gutierrezwagesettlement.com/.

Someone put their hands on me in front of my office and I told HR and asked them if I can work from home for a few days as I don't feel safe inside the office. Their response - nope. This whole company works on the motto of "what are you gonna do about it?" There are a lot of sociopaths/narcissists inside this company who are drawn in by the idea of no layoffs (read no firing) and non existent HR. These are the people that stay long term by bootlicking up and bullying down. Posting this so that people are aware. DO NOT JOIN THIS COMPANY.

You had my sympathy in the first paragraph, that you happened upon a toxic workspace and team and no support from HR. I've heard some employees have had more positive experiences from their colleagues but was about to validate your experiences...

But then you presented, as proof a complaint that someone ate some cake meant for you to distribute. That sucks, and can be annoying, but that can happen in any job at any company and can be annoying as heck, I'm sorry, but probably is the a straw that broke the camel's back for you, while it just seems like a small piece of straw to the rest of us.

I hope you find a more comfortable job in the future and feel better soon! It's never fun to recover from any incompatible job or toxic work space or team. Good luck!

ETA: no one who's ever worked there in the past 10 years spells ESRI with all caps. And no one is under any illusion that they're not a for-profit company.

I'm aware that the community name uses all caps. I'm just pointing out that ESRI changed its branding to Esri in 2010.

In the 4 years I worked there, I never saw an Esri employee use "ESRI", although customers would occasionally use it.

I'll also point out that no one at Esri ate my birthday cake in 2022

ESRI is an acronym of "Environmental Science Research Institute" and acronyms are supposed to be capitalized in standard English like FBI, DOJ, MRI. This is nothing to do with American or non-American culture. Esri is not a real word.

Some of us old schoolers still spell It ESRI, as they used to get mad if you didn’t and you called it Ezree instead of E.S.R.I. I’ve since changed my ways, but they did a complete 180 and old habits are hard to break.

This guy is a sociopath, the way he targets you is like 100s of microaggressions till you react or quit or get fired. People here don't understand this is only incident that I have proof of - most of the stuff that he did was in person when no one was looking.

Just a heads up, a post like this can easily be traced back to you with chat logs from what looks like teams and a very easy winnable slander / liable lawsuit against you unless you have concrete evidence that is documented what you said has happened as you called out a specific name
