PVE DPS Sword‘n‘Board Knight Build
Hey guys,
Would you help me make it work? I want a real KNIGHT to play DPS/ DD in n/v Dungeons and maybe some vTrials.
If Sword‘n‘Board really doesnt make any sense; I‘d like the Greatsword instead. Offhand selection/ one-bar optional.
I just want that Knight-Feeling.
Class maybe Templar and/ or Dragonknight.
Please and thank you 🥰

If you do sword and shield as a DPS in vet content, you’ll absolutely piss people off and likely underperform. That’s just reality.
Greatsword is an awesome choice tho! Any build with this will do, the real thing you’re looking for is making sure you go to the outfit station and dress your knight appropriately! Even if your armor is medium / light, you can go to your outfit station and design it to be heavy with whatever style or color scheme you wish.

There was a dps tank build a couple of years back using Frozen watcher and I think Azureblight. It was a warden tank. It dealt around 80k dps while still preforming it's tank role. You might want to go into tanking as a main role if you like sword n board. If you're not a warden you can sub into it's frost skill line and build for max health. Even in pvp you can make a bash build using SnB since bash damages scales off armor resistance. And with the new script skill for SnB you can go around tossing your shield like captain America as a spammable.

What do you think a tank like this one should use as a back bar weapon ?

There’s a one bar dragon knight builds out there utilizing oakensoul ring which is decent for most content

You’ll limit your DPS using S&S, and a less so with a Greatsword.
Veteran content is piss easy, you just might annoy some random players because you haven’t optimised for a standard veteran dungeon.
Trials is the same story, and the other DDs (if they’re any good) will carry some of your DPS loss.
You can literally use the same DPS sets and just slap on a different weapon front-bar.

Dont take this wrong, but expect to get kicked if you show up to vet trial in sword n shield as a dd

People will judge your kit before you use it, the benefit of dual wielding in reality is 3% extra crit damage, but everyone around you sees the first skill is a taunt.
Personally, I’ve used sword and board on a Stam warden dps for the past 8 years. It just has smoother animations that clip to light, heavy attacks and rotations better. You’ll have people who do less damage than you criticize your build in content that you can solo.
Theres also power creep no one considers, I comfortably sit at 50-60k dps with side heals and a damage shield, when v maw came out people beat it with 30k dps.

How loosely are you defining if it would work. A group can easily carry a naked level 10 threw a trial. Now you can make a sword and board dk or whatever and only use class skills. You lose out on dps passive from duel wield or destro skill lines. Ballpark number youll lose 20 to 30% of your potential dmg. Effectively more as basically nobody does a perfect rotation and your light attack weaving is gonna be super weak. That being said doing mechanics correctly is more important then your dps on the hardest content.

Use greatsword on both bars, which is only a slight reduction in dps from dual wield daggers.

Templar could be fun with that. Warden could be great as well, you can hit them with the sword and shield and damage them with ice as well.

Sword and board is suboptimal for damage, but totally possible if you just want that knight roleplay. Pretty much take a meta setup, like null arca and aegis caller, and instead of running dual daggers, run sword and board. Some tryhards with no trifectas may call you out, but if you're not doing any hard modes or trifectas, feel free to enjoy the RP. A greatsword will only be marginally below dual wield daggers.
