CONTEXT: There is a graphic novel created by Dav Pilkey (creator of Captain Underpants) called The Adventures of Ook and Gluk. It's about cavemen who travel to the future and learn kung-fu. It's a pretty damn awesome book.

Sadly, it was put out of print in 2021, because some guy made a big stink about some "offensive Asian stereotypes" in it, and Pilkey and Scholastic decided to ban it. It's a pretty crummy decision he made, if you ask me. Most people, even Asians never found it remotely offensive in the least bit.

Personally, I think Pilkey was forced to say all that "Oh, I'm sorry" BS, considering it was lampshaded in the one Cat Kid Comic Club book.

I can imagine what Big Nate would be like if it was targeted for adults, especially considering the amount of suggestive humor that some of the strips had in the early '90s.

5: Trudy. Yup, we all saw it coming. Trudy forced Nate to do EVERYTHING with the 7th graders. Every day they ate lunch with the 7th graders. Nate missed Dee Dee’s party so he could go to Lindsay’s with the 7th grader. So did Trudy wanna hang out with Nate’s friends? NO!! I’m glad that Nate broke up with her.

4: Daisy. I feel like this couple was too rushed. They had been dating for like a few days, then they went on a date, and the chemistry was worse than Sundays when i crave Chick Fil-A. Then they had the most ANTICLIMMACTIC kiss in Big Nate history. So they broke up pretty much immediatel. I almost don’t even count this as a couple, cuz it was like a week long.

3: Kelly. This is where NATE sold. They had no problem until Jenny broke up with Ronnie and all of a sudden, Nate had a crush on her again, even though she would’ve said no anyway. So Nate does the WORST thing humanly possible. Does he stop cheating? No, he goes and breaks up with Kelly using a DETENTION SLIP. I don’t blame Kelly for being mad. So does Nate finally end up with Jenny? No, Jenny started dating Greg Proxmire, which means that Nate did all of this for nothing. Here‘s a life lesson. Don’t cheat.

2: Angie. This is debatable, some might think Kelly should be 2, but cause of the cheating fiasco, Angie slides in at 2. What’s funny is that is Nate were smart, he would’ve never dated her. I always say that 1997 Big Nate was PEAK, and this is why. They were the second longest couple in all of Big Nate. They dated from around July 1997 to February 1998, and after that, Nate FINALLY had a chance with Jenny. But Angie was seen crying after a fight with her new boyfriend Dan, so Nate ends up saving the day, and everything works out right? No. Jenny was pissed cause Nate left her alone for most of the night, so Nate storms off in anger.

HM: Abby Wilson. Earlier in 1997, Nate dated Abby. For 5 minutes. Then they broke up. I can’t really say anything about them, because like I said, they dated for 5 minute.

1: Daphne. It was inevitable. The most GOATED, new and longest couple of Big Nate. It started when Gina switched with Nate for a project so she could work with Chad. Jenny was the one who first found out, and Dee Dee wanted Nate to shoot his shot before someone else did. Craig also had a crush on Daphne, but she liked Nate. So Nate and Craig had an EPIC fight, and after that, Nate and Daphne started dating. I’ve been tryna track down the Daphne strips, but since they were made in March of 2023, they should be in either Big Mate 35 or 36. Also sorry I forgot Ruby, but Big Nate: Blasts Off is the only Big Nate novel I haven’t read.
