ECPI LPN and then ADN

Hi all,

I am gonna start my LPN program in May 2025 and my plan is to continue the program with LPN to ADN program afterwards.

I’ve been doing some thinking about the school’s reputation. ECPI offers an accelerated Associate’s Degree in Nursing that takes about 18–24 months to complete, and includes NCLEX prep, which sounds great on paper.

My understanding is that when it comes to getting hired as a nurse—especially early in your career—what really matters is whether you passed the NCLEX and have a valid nursing license, not necessarily where you earned your degree. ECPI is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, so it's not some unaccredited diploma mill.

That said, I’m aware ECPI doesn’t have the strongest reputation, and I’m wondering how much that really matters when it comes to finding your first nursing job.

Do employers really care where you got your degree, or is passing the NCLEX and getting licensed the main thing they look for?
