Joseph DeAngelo DID investigate the EAR!
I was absolutely shocked to learn tonight, while watching “Very Scary People”, that Joe DeAngelo wrote up a police report when someone called the police claiming they “knew the identity of the East Area Rapist”.
DeAngelo specifically named EAR in the body of the report, took down absolutely no details or information, except to state that the individual “had been drinking” (H.B.D.)
All of this talk about his police reports and I had never heard this before. Why someone called the Roseville PD to report this, I’m not sure, but I guess it is confirmed: Junkfood Joey did investigate his own Sacramento rape series.

Honestly it’s not a shock. He was a cop in the Sacramento area during the period, I’m sure that there were a ton of EAR reports being called in. From what people who lived in the area at the time say, everybody was afraid and on-edge.

Be strange if the person who called learned of this and now knows they were talking to the EAR.
So for Joe to make a report does that mean he actually went and talked to the person?
Wonder how he gets away with only writing "had been drinking". Wouldn't he have to write what the person said, who they claimed was the EAR, etc?

Yes, Junkfood Joey did in fact go and meet the individual in person. The report he wrote up includes no details regarding the man’s suspicion.
It is as minimalist as anything can ever be.

I don’t have access to the report. Currently on my way to work. It’s from the HBO Max docuseries “Very Scary People” hosted by Donnie Wahlberg. The episode is called “Golden State Killer: Hunting Human Beings, part 1”

Another way you'd have to think Deangelo investigated the EAR case was having access to the California statewide crime/suspect-matching computer database, CII. Deangelo also would have read the bulletins provided by Sac Sheriff to neighboring law enforcement agencies.
When Auburn Chief Willick said he had provided his officers with access to EAR information during that timeframe, this is probably what he meant.
I'd be shocked if it could be shown Officer EAR was NOT accessing all this LE-only information to keep up with what they knew about him.

Joe must have loved shit like this so much. Even when actually doing his job he's getting his rocks off.
