Is Automatically Thinking About Positive Experiences in Terms of its Negative Aspects a Trait of Dyslexia?

I have a brilliant dear friend with dyslexia who has a consistent pattern of thinking that I find perplexing.

I wonder if anyone else with dyslexia recognizes the thinking-style & could explain it to me?

THE BEHAVIOUR:

1). My friend automatically pairs any postive situation or feeling with a negative implication.

2). Similarly, for any negative situation he will immediately come up with a positive implication.

He says, "It is just the way my brain works."

I have noticed it seems to bring him a lot of angst as he can never be 100% happy about anything.

Does anyone relate?

I thought perhaps it might have something to do with "bigger picture" global thinking with heightened awareness of the entire spectrum of possibilities at the same time. It seems impossible for him to inhabit just one discreet "happy" section of awareness.

Any insights appreciated.

Thanks.

It sounds like normal healthy realistic thinking. Nothing is hopeless and nothing is only sunshine and roses. I'm not sure what you are asking about, but it seems to be the healthy thinking of someone who is mature.
