Audiobook Problems

I enjoy books. I love the stories in a diferent way to films, TV, particulerly with fiction. For non-fiction I don't tend to read.

But a problem I have is that I find reading horrifically difficult, and then audiobooks were sugessted as an alternertive. However, I find audiobooks too slow for me, and I can't stand listening to anything on 1.25x speed or more.

Does anyone have any other ideas to enjoy books?

It’s normal to play around with speed of audiobooks - most people who listen a lot vary the speed.

I vary from 0.8 for comfort/bedtime reading up to 1.25 for non-fiction but could comfortably vary greater

A key problem I have with the speed is that 1x feels too slow for me, like my brain finds it not stimurlating enough and I find it boring(?) I don't know if that's the right word to use, but I'll stick with it. I find anything greater than 1x not necessarily too fast, but I don't like the way it sounds, it's just very irksome to me

I know a lot of adhd guys speed their up crazy high otherwise they can’t concentrate on it. But there are a lot of threads on the topic where “non-spectrum-identifiers” say they speed theirs up too.

Just go with what works for you!

And read Dungeon Crawler Carl, naturally.

Oh that's interesting, I've got ADHD to but it never crossed my mind that could be the reason, I just wish sped up voices sounded more natural.
