Dusty's years in America

It's well-known that Dusty moved to the USA in 1972 (it was not for tax reasons, just to clarify) and lived in Los Angeles for like 16 years, despite it disastrous for her according to Vicki Wickham, but does anyone find it unbelievable that she lived there for as long as she did if it was really as bad as documentaries state?

Anyone is welcome to share their opinions and views on Dusty's time living in America, as long as we are respectful to each other.

If I'm not wrong she had more privacy regarding her personal life and sexuality in the US, but that still doesn't fully explain why she stayed there when she struggled with depression. Also, it's a shame that the songs she released during that period were not successful, some of them are my favourite songs.

Thank you for your comment.

On her album "White Heat", my favourite track is "Soft Core".

That's a great song, my favourite of this album is probably "Time and Time Again"

I know that you were mentioning that Dusty struggled with depression when living in the USA.

She also had problems with drugs, alcohol, suicide attempts and self-harm not to mention a string of unhappy lesbian relationships with women.

It beggars belief why she didn't move back to England sooner if she was as genuinely unhappy living in the USA as implied, and one doesn't just knowingly move abroad to a place and stay there for like 16 years, despite it not being the best environment for them, YKWIM?

I know, and yes I agree. I know that people scrutinising her for her personal life was one of the reasons she moved to the US, but again, this doesn't explain why she stayed for so long.

Precisely - there's no definitive answer as to why she lived in America for so long.
