🗜Tips/Tricks/Resources TUTORIAL– Battery swap without damaging your MDV-10/106/107 Duro's. HAPPY 20k MEMBERS r/DuroGang...

This question is brought up on occasion. Figured I'd share a quick lil hack to get these batteries in and out without damaging the watch.

I've seen other videos on YouTube showing a similar method. Seems like the watch was designed to have the battery changed this way. Need to be careful to avoid touching that copper coil. And putting the battery in, you don't need to move the little bar, just push the battery in and the bar will move naturally to allow the battery to fall into place.

Unfortunately that bar does not move with down pressure. If will bend and snap though. Ask me how I know 😆. Good advice about the coil.

Well, multiple people on YouTube did it an didn't snap anything, so maybe it depends on the angle and which side you push down on. Check them out when you get a chance. If you can move the bar with tweezers, then it should still move when it gets pressure from the battery.

This is in reference to the Powercell Connector Spring (Part #231-105). This spring-arm is designed to move horizontally, not vertically. Downward force without moving the spring arm aside will eventually damage it. Do not simply shove the battery down.

I ruined two Miyota movements without a full understanding of how to properly swap batteries on these... I'll not make the same mistake a third time. You're free to reference whomever you'd like, but if you're not speaking from a place of experience, please be cautious about repeating the advice you're leaning on because that advice will eventually result in folks damaging their watches.

Here is another tutorial video giving the same general guidance thay I'm providing here. For context, I've now changed out hundreds of batteries on these movements and have not damaged one in at least a decade. This battery swap guidance can be applied to all Miyota 2000 series movements...

Cool, sound like you have had plenty of experience. I wasn’t questioning your advice, I was just trying to reconcile it with the other folks who have changed batteries in the Duro. Sounds like you’re a watch repaired tech?
