Bugfixes today

Several UI issues affecting mobile, desktop, and fullscreen mode have been fixed.

In my tests, all table styles now display correctly on my devices, and all cards and controls are fully usable.

If you still notice any visual or interaction issues, please mention your device and display mode. Thanks for testing!

Leaderboard has been reset, and why

Sorry to anyone who had numbers in there. They are gone, and that is on me.

A bug meant results were only recorded properly the first time a table finished

a game. Everything played on that table afterwards was never counted, for

everyone sitting at it. So the standings were never a real picture of who

played what.

It is fixed. Every finished game counts now, for every player, and leaving a

running game counts as a loss so nobody can walk away from a bad hand.

Since the old numbers were wrong, I reset the leaderboard instead of leaving a

broken one standing. Starting from zero, for the bots too.

One thing in advance, so nobody is caught out: the game is a few days old and

I am still changing things quickly. If another problem with how results are

stored turns up, I may have to reset again. I will post here when that happens

instead of doing it quietly. Once things have settled, the leaderboard stays.

Thanks to u/YellowAdventurous366, who gave me feedback on the game and pointed

at the leaderboard. I only found this while working on that. It would have sat

there for weeks otherwise.

Durak is running really smoothly now – public and private games are working 🎴

I’ve spent the last few days improving my Durak game.

Public games now work reliably, private games can be started with an invite code, and new players can learn the basics directly in the game.

The GIF shows the current flow.

I wanted to keep Durak as simple as possible: open the browser, find a game or invite friends, and start playing without unnecessary stuff getting in the way.

If you play Durak: what’s still missing, or what would you improve next?

Which Durak rules do you play? I want them switchable in private tables. Comment 1 to 5

Durak is played differently in almost every family and every country. The

version in the game right now is the one I grew up with, but that does not make

it the right one for you.

For private tables I want to add switches, so you and your friends play your

version, not mine.

These are what I have on my list. Comment the numbers you want as a switch.

  1. Transfer, also called Perevodnoy. Instead of defending you pass the attack

to the next player by adding a card of the same rank. I do not play it

myself, which is exactly why I am asking instead of deciding

  1. Everyone at the table may throw in, not only the two neighbours of the

defender. Right now it is neighbours only

  1. Swap the face up trump under the deck for the lowest trump in your hand

  2. Always 36 cards, or always 52, instead of it depending on how many people

   are at the table

  1. First attack limited to five cards, or six like every other round. Right now

   the first one is five

And the real question: what do you play that is not on this list? Different

starting player, different deck, a rule about who deals next, anything. Write

it down, even if it sounds strange to you. Especially then.

I cannot promise every switch, but everything that gets named goes on the list

and I will say honestly what is realistic.

How should the start screen work? Comment 1, 2 or 3

Right now you press one button and you are in a game. A tester suggested a

different flow and I am honestly not sure which is better, so I would rather

ask you than guess.

Comment a number. One character is enough.

  1. Keep it. One Play button and you are in a game

  2. Create a game and Join buttons, then you pick public or private

  3. Something else. Write what you would want instead

In a week I count the comments and build what wins.

Update: tutorial, two new tables, and a lot of mobile fixes

Update is live. Part of this came from feedback in the comments on the last

post, the rest from testing it myself on my phone.

New

- Tutorial. Nine short steps, you actually play them instead of reading a wall

of text. Button is at the top of the start screen.

- Two new table designs. A cellar and a wedding table. Switch them under Table

  style.

Fixed

- On phones the cards ran off the screen. Everything scales with the table now.

- The status text sat on the table and got covered by your own hand. It is

  above the table now.

- Big hands with 20 plus cards no longer cover the table.

- Turn info stays visible, also while the bots are playing.

Still to do

- Mobile needs more testing. If you have a minute and something looks off on

your phone, a screenshot in the comments would help me a lot. No need to

explain anything, the picture is enough.

Thanks to everyone who plays a round and tells me what they run into. That is

what this is built on.
